Need to drive 4 ohm spkrs- $5-$700 street price

5.1 receiver. Building a new house and I get a "media" room".

I was looking to use Magnepan MMGs (main) MMG-W (surrounds) and the MMG-C (center).

Room is going to be 12x14 with 9' ceilings and will be able to be closed off entirely.

I'll also be using a powered sub for movie watching.

Anything out there in that price range that can drive the "pans" for HT use?

Thanks

For those speakers your best bet would be an AVR + amp combo. Cheapest route that way would be the Yamaha 765 + UPA5 from Emotiva. Another option could be a refurb Onkyo 876 from accessories4less. It has the power to drive those with all channels driven. My first choice though would be the AVR and amp combo. Someone may come up with something else, but thats all I can think of at this time. Brain overload today.

I suppose you are set on 4 ohm speakers?

Not really. Just kind of semi-set on those speakers due to the great reviews and price. $1225 (plus shipping I guess) for all 5. Plus I would like to have a nice set of mains for music- anything from blues, jazz to Hendrix, Zep, Kid Rock, Sade, Van Morrison etc...

If there is something out there that would be as good for music AND HT then I'm open to ideas.

Just and FYI- I live in the boonies (relatively speaking) and cannot go and listen to anything. It has to be hear/sight unseen, so depending on word of mouth/reviews for my system.

Thanks
