'Smallville: The Final Season' on The CW HD - Page 14

I think it seems like even the people who liked the episode didn't like it that much

I could have missed this one and never known I missed anything.

I laughed so hard when Oliver came out on stage in drag as a showgirl. That one scene made the episode worth watching.

I do agree if Zantana was behind the whole thing, they should have given her at least one scene. When they meet the girl in the black hat at the night club, I thought she was going to be Zantana just using a different appearance so she could witness the mayhem without being recognized.

I watch the show and like it. The problem is the piss poor CW HD quality. Any movement or rapid scene changes cause the video to to blur into digital blocks. Really horrendous video quality compared to other network channels!

What is CW's problem?

Watching on Directv in Ft. Laud, FL

Sounds like you have problems. I don't have that issue on the OTA channel in Philly.

It's because the Miami CW station has 2 subchannels which makes the main HD channel look like crap.

Only one sub-channel here, yet it pixellates more than any other OTA station. It (WTTV-DT) is actually broadcast by the FOX affiliate, so I'm not sure how that works exactly. Funny thing is, whatever is on previously can be fine (2.5 Men, Seinfield, ect.), But IF there's any trouble, it usually isn't until Smallville comes on. No problem with the audio though; it's still louder than loud.

Seems to be a high bit-rate show that doesn't get enough bits..

I don't have any problems with CW Network presentations OTA in Houston either. Although I sometimes have a problem with watching it on AT&T Uverse. I have a minor problem OTA and more so with Uverse with locally generated (syndicated) shows. I think the local engineers don't have the recipe.

... at our expense.

I thought it was overly lame, but that's JMO.

Supernatural also had a "throwaway", just for fun, episode this week and I thought their approach was much more entertaining.

Same here - WGN.

Old encoders, apparently.

It's know that it's great to see the actors having fun and cutting loose, but with so few episodes left, I felt that it was a bit of a wasted effort.

Exactly, where did his glasses go?
As for what movie theme will they go for next week? How about Superman, or Superman II even!
It's just a thought, even if it's just wishful thinking.

He really should be wearing glasses from here on out..
The only reason I will forgive the disguise is that he was hanging out w people that already knew his secret. Which at this point seems to be everyone anyhow.

I felt exactly the same.

In some ways Smallville seems like the opposite of a first season show on the bubble.

A new show that is trying to get ratings has people busting their butts trying to craft the best show they can in hopes of another season.

Smallville knows this is the swan song... and just doesn't seem to be bringing it every week... as if they know people will watch at this point no matter what, and even good ratings don't change that this is the final season.

Smallville is operating in lame-duck mode it would seem.

Chloe mentioned meeting other heroes in her travels, something to the effect of "A billionaire with high-tech toys and a wondrous woman who's gonna throw you for a loop."

IMO-This last show was an absolute waste of time and money. With so many venues that could be explored-I.E.-new powers for Clark, actually "out on the street" fighting crime, etc., what do they do? Show G.A. in drag and Clark with a hangover. What a travesty for one of the few shows left in the series in its last season. I've watched the series since episode one and was totally disgusted with this episode.

Agreed. Lamest...worst...episode...ever!
Worse than the super dogs ep or the illegal immigrant ep?

I don't think anything would beat those. This last episode probably was one of the worst in the past few years since the show has gotten better, but those two episodes...wow.
Y'know, once I realized this was a "just-for-fun" kind of episode, I didn't hate it. However, I do wish they would really keep it tight and on-focus for the last few episodes.

Holy Grilled Cheezus! After 10 freakin' seasons what the heck is wrong with throwing in a "just for fun" episode ... I mean it's not like we don't know how the ^%$*()! story "ends."

Lighten up already! Unbelievable! ... AVS'ers will complain about anything.

Agreed. Nitpicking the dialogue is kinda OCD.

Diane Lane is cast as Martha Kent in the new movie. Kevin Costner rumored to be in the running for Jonathan.

True... and while I partly agree...

Just because I eat at my favorite restaurant a couple of times a week for months... doesn't mean they get to serve me a bad meal on purpose just because they have a "screw the customer" day...

Yeah I don't mind the break from the story - or a "just for fun" episode - I just want the 44 minutes to be fun or entertaining, and less lame.

... but it's just a matter of taste.

So Lex and Superboy are one and the same? I didn't see that coming..
They need to bring back Lana and her green kryptonite-laced nanosuit. Since Connor seems to be into older women and Lana was married to Lex at one time, perhaps he would willingly put on a blue Kryptonite ring to be around her.

Recent spoilers that let the cat out of the bag early aside... it's straight from the recent comics (several years ago recent).... I'm just surprised they incorporated it into Smallville.

Given the way this episode ended... I'm now thinking

Lionel is on the verge of making a pact with Darkseid to bring Lex back from the dead.

They did a homage to themselves last night...

The scene with Clark and "Lex" in the barn was very much like the early (was it Season 3) season opener where Jonathan Kent went to get Clark after he had ran away...
