So which is the better set? Very little info on the 810 yet. Price difference here is less than 100 dollars. Is there an consensus yet?

Here's a post comparing the two. It looks like the NX810 is better.

I disagree that they are within $100 of each other. You can find the HX for much cheaper right now. Since the NX810 is barely out I doubt you will find many deals out there on it. Hell, I think the price I've seen on the HX909 is currently cheaper.

89 dollars to be exact. I'm in Canada and one of the chains here is offering a super deal on the 55inch 810.

First post. Having read all of the applicable threads backwards and forwards, I still went to Costco Saturday evening with my wife to look (again) at the 46" NX810 and the 55" HX800 - both on sale. I really like the aesthetics of the NX monolithic design, but the 55" for only $300 more was too tempting - and my wife approved! The newer NX 810 is really an awesome deal compared to what any other retailers are asking, but we went with the HX. A little bigger, no built in wifi - but the BX58 bluray solves that, and maybe its just me but I think a little less reflectivity than the coated Gorilla Glass offered in the NX which seems like a good idea. I had read too many posts about Samsungs ghosting, flashlighting and turning themselves on and off - and a little worse ratio of posts about their service & support. Higher end Samsungs would look better in an ultra modern setting with the very thin aluminum edge, but I think the Sony is more versatile with an array of decors - a more understated but elegant look. I was able to set-up and connect to Comcast wifi through the Bluray in 45 minutes total. Great out of the box picture and will look at calibration settings on this site - but probably don't need them. NO flashlighting or ghosting (I really worried about that) quick, sure remote on/off and channel response and only a 5-10 second lag for a few options. I am a very critical and hard to sell customer. Three months of research while waiting for a custom made credenza gave me even more time to agonize over this. Will probably wall-hang eventually, but stand is sturdier than I thought. This exceeds all my expectations - and was a tremendous value as well. Oh, and the sound is much, much better than reported - only 1/2" thicker than NX - but I can live with this level of sound quality without having to switch on my receiver-driven in-wall surround system. The news about Sony no longer being in the top tier are greatly exaggerated. 3d yet to be determined, but simply not as important for us until the offerings get a lot better. Thanks Sony and Costco for making all the boogie-men go away. I am pleased and relieved. Maybe I'll get an NX for the basement when the price drops even further...
