Denon DHT-591BA - removing plastic tabs from speakers

So, recently picked up this system, and each of the speakers has a small clear plastic tab, about 2 inches long, thin material, that comes out from behind the grilles in the lower right corner. I'm not sure how to best remove these without damaging the speakers or grilles. It's not obvious to me what the best method for removing the grilles is, and I can't find any information about this in the manual or through numerous google searches about these speakers.

Anyone know?

Thanks.

Very strange! Pics?

*EDIT* from an Amazon reviewer - "The only complaint than I have is that out of the box there is a plastic tab that in order to remove you have to remove the speaker grill. While doing this I manage to break off one of the posts that hold the grill to the speaker. I called Boston Acoustics and they did send a replacement, no questions asked. The grills are very fragile so use caution. "

So be VERY careful!!

Exactly, this was the only bit of information I found relating to it, and like I said, I don't know the correct way to remove the grilles. I'm at work right now, when I get home I'll take a picture and post it. I'm surprised more people haven't asked about this. When a speaker grille is inset flush with the speaker box, how would one normally go about removing it?

why remove it ? If you want the aesthetics of a bare speaker look, then what difference does it make if you break the grill getting it off - otherwise there is no need to ever remove the grills.

I just want to remove these strange little plastic tabs that are protruding from the bottom front of the speakers, they seem to be attached to something beneath the grille. I have no idea what their purpose is.

So, the solution is, pull forward on the tabs, fairly hard, so that it pops off that corner of the grill, the tab is secured around the little rod that holds that corner of the grill attached, when it pops off, just remove the tab from the rod, and reattach the grill.

Yeah, I just pulled up so the grill came off slightly then pulled kind of hard and they came off, no problems.

After taking off the tabs I don't think one of the tabs came off completely, how do I remove the speaker grill? It seems impossible..do I have to wedge something in there? lol

Just pull firmly back on the tab, towards you, dislodging the bottom of the grill, then remove the tab.

I actually pulled off the tabs on most of them successfully without any damage, not having to dislodge the grill..but on the last one I think there might still be a piece in there..the tab is now off..but I'd like to peel off the grill to check..is there a technique to taking the grill of this type of speaker?

Does anyone know what the purpose of this tab is? Will I damage my speakers if I use them with the tab still attached?
