Hawaii Five-0 on CBS HD

I thought it was a very good pilot, the show looks great in HD.

Loved it. It was a lot of fun, great chemistry between actors, and for me - genuinely funny. This was surprisingly good. Very, very pleasantly surprised.

I loved it as well. My fav of the night and I look forward to more.

The title should have been CSI: Honolulu or NCIS: Honolulu. How many of these cop procedurals does CBS need? The promos gave me a vibe of Lost meets Jericho, but we ended up with a "When CSI met 24". Disappointed, and what a total waste of Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park in the pilot.

All I know is I have a new show that's must see TV for me.

Yeah, pretty weak.

Don't they have seat belt laws in Hawaii?
Wanted to hate it ... couldn't ... yet. Although, the "book'em Dano" line was cringeworthy. I guess some things are best left alone.
Was OK I guess. Regardless of how good the show is I just don't see it catching on (unless it gets spectacular word of mouth).
They got me to watch it once, but never again. That was awful.

Good well paced show, Good lineage to the original 5-0

Another hit for CBS!

Is there a Wo Fat character in this one. Would be nice to have a nemesis in this version as well. It was my favorite character in the original series, would always appear in a few multipart episodes per season and somehow escape. Wo Fat was in just about the entire run of the 10 year show.

I was VERY disappointed. And I'm not hard to please.

Nice views of Hawaii but the show was only okay after all the hype.

I wish they could get rid of the musical background. It got to be pretty irritating as the program went on.

I figured this show would be a total waste of time, but since I like most of the cast it wasn't that bad.

Go low expectations.

The producers have said Victor Hesse (James Marsters, Spike from Buffy) will be a recurring villain much like Wo Fat, since his body wasn't found after hitting the water, he'll be back.
What I like about the show is that they're fairly ruthless going after the bad guys, such as when they were rescuing Grace Park, they ran over that guy with the truck and didn't care and also the part where Daniel Dae Kim smashes an ashtray into Will Yun Lee's face.

I quite liked it!

It was really bad, boys and girls.

You knew from the same old ad they carpet bombed for months that it was crap warmed over, but when Chip and Dale... er, McGarrett and Williams encounter each other with guns drawn, the snappy dialog rolling from their lips like pre-vomit...

Lazy writing, way too much gun-play for Hawaii (seriously, when's the last time you heard of a shoot-out in Hawaii?), and gratuitous violence (love how that gal belted the guy for stealing her wave; yeah, that happens all the time). I might give it one more try, simply since there's nothing else on at 10:00 on Mondays (unless there's a good MNF game), but if it is as bad as the first episode, count me out.

I didn't plan on watching this series but I figured I would watch the pilot since it got good reviews and they spent around 8 million on it. It was loaded with CGI.

I did like it so now I have another show to watch that I did not plan on watching this season.

Not possible when you do a remake of a pretty darn good show in it's day. I was a big fan of the original, this one fell short.

Scott Caan is brutal as was the pilot!
The problem I had with the Pilot is it seemed to shove the material that used to be put into a 2 hour premiere into a 1 hour show. The beats were hit, but they seemed to come too soon for them to come off as natural, for me. This is the problem with a lot of pilots so hopefully this show will get better. I am not sure if this is the kind of show I need to watch week after week.

If you want to amaze your friends, there are lyrics to the theme song.

Disclaimer: Yep, this links to the station I work for. Only put it up here because I was a little surprised, myself. And it sings perfectly.

Don, check it out - there were more than one set of lyrics:

http://www.hostropolis.com/april/mp3/sammyhawaii5o.mp3

If you get in trouble
Bring it home to me
Whether I am near you
Or across the sea

I will think of something to do
I'll be on the lookout for you
And I'll find you
You can count on me

And don't you let 'em get you
Up against the wall
'Cause I'll be there to catch you
And I won't let you fall

Call me if they hit you below
Call me when there's nowhere to go
And I'll be there
You can count on me (You can count on me)

And if they all desert you
And you start to bend
You know I won't let them hurt you
And I don't pretend

Don't call if you've got nothing to say
Don't call me if you just want to play
But call me on Devil's Day
You can count on me

You can count on
You can count on
You can count on
You can count on

Count on me!

Honestly, the pilot had some of the worst writing of any show I've watched in a good long while, probably extending back to mid-90's syndicated sci-fi garbage.

Having said that, I loved the show. I expected brain-dead and that's what I got. I wanted explosions and got explosions. This show's senseless-killing count seems it could rival 24 if given enough time.

Bang bang, you're dead, good guys always win. It is what it is, and I HATE that phrase. But I love this show.

I also found these, which sounds like the kind of thing I'd write:
Hawaii Five-O theme tune
Hawaii Five-O theme
Hawaii Five-O theme tune
Hawaii Five-O theme
Polynesians coming for you
Polynesians in a big-ass canoe
Hawaii Five-O theme tune
Hawaii Five-O theme

You owe me a new keyboard, Doc.

So a CBS executive wrote the original song and gave it to the Ventures to record, right? Does that mean he came up with the iconic tune itself or just those, um, inspired lyrics?
Wiki (always the bastion of accuracy) says the thing was a tune, then Don Ho added one set of lyrics and Sammy Davis, Jr, the other. I'm pretty sure the third set came from Jack Daniels.
