Hawaii Five-0 on CBS HD - Page 5

My problem with Hawaii Five-0 is that right now it is the only show I'm watching besides Boardwalk Empire, Rubicon, Dexter, and Mad Men. Hawaii Five-0 seems silly and frivolous in comparison. Okay, maybe its not fair to compare H Five-0 to those shows, but still.

horrible show.

Wow! It seems I must be the only one who is enjoying the show. I grew up watching the original, and while this is in no way as good, I am having fun with version 2.0. I still get chills hearing the opening theme. I am enjoying it as good, mindless action. Yes, it has plot holes we could drive a truck through, but I really don't worry about such things. Sorry to hear so many are so disappointed.

I'm with you. I am really enjoying this version. I am currently rewatching the series on DVD and they are both enjoyable for what they are. So many memories of the original series are forever etched in my mind.

This new version is enjoyable and boasts some of the most gorgeous scenery on TV this season. I really enjoyed the last episode as it featured a regular guy trying to get revenge on a former partner. I felt that this episode actually had an "old school" feel to it. I'm in for the long haul.

What was that sonny? I didn't have my hearing aide turned up.

I am still barely within the 18-49 demographic. If that makes me old, so be it.

OMG! I have never thought of myself as old, but now that you mention it, I haven't been in the 18-49 demographic for four years. Wow, its a good thing H5-0 is on CBS. I think it is the only show on CBS I watch, but I better start looking for more and give up on Nikita and Smallville over on the CW since I am way, way outside their target range! LOL

Horrible show, horrible acting, and horrible dialogue. The only thing good is the theme song that was made for the original show back when they knew how to make something good. What other good classic show are they going to screw up next.

Five-0!
CBS gives full seasons to 'Hawaii,' 'Molly,' 'Blue,' 'Defenders,' '$#*!'

By James Hibberd in The Hollywood Reporter s LiveFeed blog, October 21, 2010

CBS is going five-for-five: The network is giving full season orders to all of its freshman shows: The Defenders, Hawaii Five-0, Blue Bloods, $#*! My Dad Says and Mike & Molly.

What's more, each of the pickups is earned: All of the shows have performed competitively in their time periods, with Hawaii, Molly and $#*! averaging above a 3.0 in the adults 18-49 rating.

The pickup reflects a strong performance by CBS this fall, which has had the broadcaster in first place for the first month of the season.

"It's personally thrilling and extremely satisfying," CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler told The Hollywood Reporter. "I like kept walking around the halls going, 'I want 5 for 5.'"

Tassler credits the network's strong development this year, promotion and smart scheduling moves.

The pickups do give the network a luxury problem, however -- fitting the network's midseason shows into the schedule. Tassler wouldn't rule out reducing the episode orders for some. CBS isn't announcing how many episodes of each show was ordered, sources say $#*! may only be for six episodes instead of the customary nine, plus three scripts. Hawaii received back nine plus two scripts.

"We're looking at all possible ideas," Tassler said. "It's not just about filling slots but launching a successful midseason schedule."

For midseason, the network has Chaos, Mad Love, Live to Dance and the Criminal Minds spinoff.

The ratings to date: Hawaii has averaged 14.2 million and a 4.1 adults 18-49 rating; Blue has averaged 12.7 million and a 2.2; Defenders 11.3 million and a 2.8; Molly 12.3 million and 4.1 and $#*! 11.3 million and 3.5.

Glad to hear it. This is the only new show I've kept watching so I thought for sure it was doomed!

I think the only reason I keep watching this show is for Grace Park. Otherwise all it is is CSI: Hawaii. Caan is annoying, O'Loughlin is a robot and I liked DDK a lot better as Jin. Yet I've watched every episode.

RIP James MacArthur, the original Danno:

Lots of details about HD digital production problems/solutions in the April HDVideoPro issue ("Book 'Em Danno," by Iain Blair). They're mostly using (or used) Sony's F-35s, with the Arri D-21 and DLSRs for action scenes and the RED ONE for underwater shots.(Issue includes a feature about the new alien-invasion "Battle: Los Angeles.") -- John

This show is the most gorgeous I've ever seen on my HDTV. The state of Hawaii must be kicking in some money to CBS for it, every time we watch a new ep we want to go there.

There are also many episodes that, whenever not shot in downtown Honolulu, have locales that were also used in LOST. More than once, we've seen Chin-Ho in the jungle....and you keep wanting to yell.."Jin!!!"

Just be thankful the CSI folks did not get their hands on this one, or everything would be bathed in an emerald glow....

No comments on the season finale?

I was surprised when we learned what the key was for. Too bad Kelly Hu won't be back. It will be interesting to see how they resolve the cliff hanger.

Did anyone get the feeling that this new CIA analyst will be reurning as a regular character? Or at least she will be an important character to the resolution of the current plot.

I agree and yet I watch it. My wife loves Alex 0 from that vampire show he did for a season.

I was enjoying this show, but the last 4 or 5 weeks there have been schedualing conflics with other shows that I like better.

This show definitely improved as the season progressed. Especially the second half. I enjoyed the finale and plan to watch again next season. The scenery and HD quality is worth 50% of this show.

Larisa Oleynik (i.e. Jenna) will, indeed, return in Season 2 in a recurring capacity: http://www.tvguide.com/News/Oleynik-...0-1032852.aspx.

Somehow she bugs...I'd rather have the show continue without her...

I was actually very impressed with the finale...it has always been a "lower tier" show for me but I thought it was one of the better season finales this year...

I hope she has time to grow her hair out before shooting starts.

They had to kill off the female govenor since Lingle's second term just ended. I wonder if Smart's replacement will look like an old hippy.

Just saw the original Danno in "The Bedford Incident" the other night. He really screwed the pooch in that one.

Googled him and was sad to see he passed away last October.
I always had a soft spot for the old show because the closest I ever got to a celebrity was seeing James MacArthur, the original Danno, get off a chair-lift at Vail in the 70's not 100 feet from me. Pretty spiffy, right?

Lost's Terry O'Quinn Joins Hawaii Five-0 Cast, Reunites With Daniel Dae Kim
By Michael Ausiello, TVLine.com - June 21st, 2011

EXCLUSIVE: Terry O'Quinn is going baaaack to the island.

In what marks the most high-profile Lost reunion since the ABC phenom signed off last year, O'Quinn is joining the cast of CBS' Hawaii Five-0 in a pivotal recurring role.

The gig not only brings the Emmy winner back to the Aloha State, but it reunites him with Lost castmate and Five-0 regular Daniel Dae Kim.

O'Quinn will play a Navy Seal Lt. Commander who trained Alex O'Loughlin's McGarrett in Coronado, and served with his father in Vietnam. Described as strong, stubborn and a man you want in your corner when things go south, the character holds some of the answers to the mysteries surrounding the respective murders of McGarrett's mother and father.

O'Quinn recently shot a starring role in the Marc Cherry-produced ABC pilot Hallelujah, but the drama failed to land a spot on the network's fall schedule.
