Hawaii Five-0 on CBS HD - Page 4

I'll give it two more tries. ONLY because I like Grace Park so much. Otherwise I would already be gone.
yeah i try to get through last night and could not

It's too bad the writing is so sloppy and the plot holes so big you could fly a Lear 35 through them - oh wait, they did exactly that. I agree with those who like the chemistry of the cast, especially Scott Caan and O'Loughlin. Caan is a real find (both here and Entourage). But, really the story lines are so bad that I am torn about continuing to watch.

Unfortunately for me, my wife loves Ao'L, so we're recording it along with Castle in this timeslot. Last night I was forced to watch 50 in realtime.

Alex O'Laughlin is just awful. Everyone else is good, but he sticks out like a sore thumb. I think I may give the show one more try, but the weak writing coupled with O'Laughlin...that's just a hard combo to get over.

In any case, anyone else notice that when he and Caan were in the car for a while talking, the background scenery was sort of stuttering? It completely threw me and it was the only thing I could focus on the whole time.

Can't help but get chills whenever the theme song comes on.

I'm the opposite I like AOL but hate SC as Danno and find him extremely terrible ..
Wish they would recast Danno with somebody better looking, taller, and talented since SC is beyond bland !

Why couldn't they have made one of the characters an actual Hawaiian native?
At least Zulu as Kono was Hawaiian.

They should keep the humor but make the villains extremely serious and dangerous.
Daniel Dae Kim is likeable but too bland, they probably should have cast Will Yun Lee (the villain in the pilot) as Chin Ho instead.
An elite team like that needs better weapons, even the marshals on Chase have better guns than they do.

And what did you think of the original Danno?

From what I was told CBS is actually using a new transcoding method that limits the amount of compression needed for their new fall lineup, hense better picture.

I want to see more emergency vehicles, by which I mean last nights episode what they did with the Chevy Camaro in last night's episode with the blue grill lights and wigwag foglamps. How about we see something on the motorcycle?

So what are opinions about the HD quality? On my set, it looks a little soft. Is that the way they intend it? I'm watching it on AT&T U-Verse. Other shows look sharp.

This show sucks even with my low expectations this week for tv.

I gotta say its pretty impressive, sharp bright colors, tight surround sound. As I said before CBS is actually using a new transcoding method that limits the amount of compression needed for their new fall lineup, hense better picture.

Too bad my local CBS O&O, KPIX compresses the crap out of their audio resulting in everything sounding the same level, a pin drop is just about as loud as an explosion, destroying any dynamic range. I would guess that CBS does the same at all of their owned and operated stations.

Our local NBC O&O, KNTV, on the other hand, knows how to do audio the correct way and with the correct Dial-Norm applied, their audio is superior in every way, great dynamic range, it puts the CBS audio to shame.

CBS audio can become hard to listen to at times, the compression makes you feel as if your going up in altitude, it gives that compressed feeling in your ears, I really wish they'd learn how to do it correctly.

Pretty much every day it was "Hey, f___ing haolie!". I usually shrugged it off and paid attention to the good friends I had (mostly samoan or filipino descent), and overall loved living in Hawaii (Oahu).

Thoughts on the show in my next post.

I was prepared to not like the show, for a lot of reasons (including "not another police procedural!"), but am surprisingly liking it, a lot. My wife is also enjoying it, maybe even more than me, so it will stay on the series recording list.

I think the cast chemistry is excellent, decent enough dialog and acting, and just has a fun tone to it (including the tension from "get it done, un-pc or not" versus "you can't do that!" between the main characters). Yeah, the stories will have silly elements, and there will be plot holes galore (why didn't the bad guys have lookouts on the outside of the building on this week's episode?), but that's not what we will keep watching for.

And it's good to see some work for the Lost and BSG alumni. (And every bikini scene with Grace Park in it will be a bonus ... and I'm sure my wife will look forward to skin from the male side of the cast.)

I'm over it... even if I wasn't I have too much to catch up on/watch on Monday's.

all the regular episodes after the pilot have been lackluster, they need to improve things quickly or viewers will abandon this show.
I'm gone. Not worth my time.
I stopped watching after the first episode.
Am I the only one out there who wishes they would turn the music down when someone was talking? We keep missing dialog even when we back it up on the TIVO and replay it!
Is it my imagination or has every episode so far ended in a gun battle with the bad guy going down?

It is starting to be "Shoot'em Danno!"

I want some plot development that makes you think.
I'm hanging on in the hopes that there will be more scenes with a scantily-clad Boomer.
I bailed about 15 minutes into the latest episode. I grew tired of Danial's excessive complaints about McGarrett. Way too over the top. I lost it when the entered the prison basketball court surrounded by cons. I guess the writers never heard of shiv's.

I have to admit, I also stopped in the middle and just gave up. I was teetering and now have...uh...teetered. A few things to like, but not nearly enough.
