Where did the 46" plasmas go?

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can shed a little light on my question. I am replacing (finally) my last tube TV in the house and have decided on the Panasonic TC - P46S2 or P46g25. I can't go with a 50" inch because it's just a little too big for my cabinet. Anyway, my problem is that I can't find any 46" plasma anywhere in the stores. I have looked online, and I can find them there, or if I order from Best Buy online, but no one in Atlanta stocks them in the store.
My question is, is there something wrong with that size plasma? I realize a 50" is very similar in price, but again, it won't fit. Does anyone know any reason why all the stores in town just stopped carrying them?
Thanks for any insight to this.

You mentioned them being similar in size and price to many 50s, and I'd wager that's the main reason why.

I saw a 46C2 at Best Buy but sounds as if you're saying they don't stock the S2.

The 50" size is the sweet spot and B&M stores typically consider the 46" size to be an oddball, and since they're priced only about a hundred bucks less than the 50" versions they don't feel the need to carry the 46 incher. And the term "50 inch" sounds much larger than "46 inch" and size sells. It's rare to find any local store that carries the 46" sizes.

You mean it's too big for the TV size limiter ? err, umm i mean cabinet, great time to get rid of it imho

But if you insist on keeping the cabinet then maybe consider the 50" LG plasmas, they have the smallest dimensions overall and review well here. LG has quite a few 50" 1080P models also btw.

Here's a link to a popular, well priced model: http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video/...tv-50PK550.jsp <--- Click the specifications tab then dig for the measurements in there.

That's my 2c

Did you try Sears? They carry Panasonic. Also Fry's. The Best Buy near me has the C2 in stock. But I live in Southern California. You may have to order online. Lots of places have free shipping.

He's looking for a brick and mortar store that has them in stock. I get the sense that he doesn't really want to order it online.

I remember the same issue with the Panny 46" plasmas last year, probably at about this time in the model year. I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually phase them out, maybe starting in '11 model year, but probably not until at least '12 model year.

I think the 46" plasma is a worthwhile TV to be available, but if the demand is low, as it appears to be, the items become scarce, and people who can't accommodate a 50" plasma, have to pay virtually the same price for the smaller 46" plasma or compare it to the 46" LCDs.
