Panasonic VT25 Calibration Flaw

Greetings,

There seems to be a significant calibration flaw with the VT25 Series Panasonic displays that makes it very important for the system to be setup properly. Specifically, the display applies different signal processing to YCbCr signals than RGB signals causing for a very different grayscale based on the type of signal. This is apparent in both the THX Mode with the factory menu calibration and the ISF Mode with the grayscale calibration. I checked to ensure that two grayscales, one for each color space, could not be calibrated separately, but they share the same settings.

Does anyone know of a workaround or have you even experienced this? I say we put pressure on Panasonic to fix it with an update. :-)

Good Pictures! :-)

In order to calibrate the ISF day/night modes you need to have FW 3.0 installed on your tv.

I've added a link to your post to the "reports" thread (Post#2). I hope there is an update later on.

Greetings,

We have bee talking with Panasonic and they have a suggested fix that they sent over, I plan to test this tonight and get back to you all. Firmware Version 3 is needed for the ISF mode but this was an issue independent of the ISF mode.

All the best,

Dave

This is resolved with firmware 3.5. However, if you have already had your display calibrated, do not install 3.5 as 3D will have to be recalibrated and 2D calibrations may/may not be affected (I've done 2 VT25s this weekend and one panel's 2D was not affected by the firmware update while the other was).

Are you calibrating the isf-ccc day and night modes for 2D?

How does this affect initial setup? My 58VT25 arrives Saturday should I download all FW first then proceed with the "picture show"?

Yes, but this problem has nothing to do with the video mode used for calibration.
