Has anybody tried a HDMI repeater with the PS3 (for non 3D compat AVR's)

I was thinking that it might be possible to use a HDMI repeater with the PS3, so that I could hear lossless sound in games like Wipeout HD, when I'm playing them in 3D. You see, the problem is that my receiver isn't hdmi 1.4a compatible. It's not 3D ready, so to speak. Why not buy a new receiver?

I spent some good coin on a nice Marantz. It does 7.1 lossless sound, and it's basically a very nice amp. For me to get rid of that receiver and go buy a new one just for 3D support would be asinine. I have to figure out a way around it. I'm thinking that with a HDMI repeater, I can send one hdmi cable straight to the TV for the 3D video, and send one hdmi cable straight to the receiver just to secure that lossless sound.

My only concern is whether there would be any lag with the audio, because it's going thru all this process to finally get to my receiver. I'm not sure if the hdmi repeater will cause a delay that would screw things up.

I think I'll just pick one of these up and hope that it works. I didn't know if anybody here was maybe already using a hdmi repeater for this exact reason and had a better recommendation.

You can adjust audio delay by moving your speakers closer or farther from your seating position (in your receiver, not in your room). However, video delay is typically longer than audio so you'll probably have to -delay- your audio.

Having said all that, the splitter you linked to is NOT 1.4a compatible so it would be no better than using your receiver.

Are you even sure you need a repeater?

I have an Onkyo TX-SR876 and run my PS3 through it and can play Wipeout HD in 3D without any issues.
