Iron man 2 (Blu-ray) Official AVSForum Review - Page 4

For those who were unhappy with the story, I remember reading an article that talked about how Jon Favreau was *very* unhappy with the studio and Marvel and their constant meddling with the movie. I think when you listen to his commentary you get thinly veiled hints that it's true, Marvel's demands really messed up the Iron Man mojo they had from the first film.

I still haven't see this one. I somewhat liked the first, but just can't seem to pull the trigger on the second one.

Well apparently Favreau will not be directing the 3rd movie. Which is probably a good thing since the way Favreau went from cameo to supporting actor in IM1 and IM2 he would probably end up having top billing for IM3.

You're missing out on an incredible soundtrack. And the film itself is just as good as the first one, if not better. At least IMO.

Just rent it and then decide. It's a good flick with great AQ.

Regards,

Thanks for the review, Ralph. As a comics nut from way back, I felt exactly the same leaving the theater on this one--seemed like such a wasted opportunity (Marvel meddling, ala SP3?)

I'll have to give it another try at home to see if I warm up to the thing.

We wanted to see IM2 on the Imax but, just never got to it (it was 35 mins drive to the Imax Theater). After it came out many poor reviews made me care less and less that I missed it. A week or two ago we finally rented the BluRay and watched it. My wife and I were underwhelmed with it. If I never see it again it wouldn't bother me. We then rented the original and loved watching it again.

I will probably pick up the first one on Blu-Ray at some point.

Sorry while visually and sound wise it might be awesome the story is just not there. It was ok and certainly worth the $1.65 or so to rent it but, worth even $10 (to me) to own it.

Perhaps if someone is looking for Disc or two to showcase their system I guess I could see that. But, something I would watch start to finish more then once or twice? No.

Before anyone says it's an action flix based on a comic book I will say I own the Dark Knight on BluRay and will pick up Batman Begins as well.

It had pretty colors. Scarlett Johansson looks pretty smokin in her little outfit too.

BB is still my favorite of the Nolan films. Batman is depicted more often with his cape wrapped around and in front, a crouching posture, etc...more as I'd expect him to be and as he is usually depicted in the comic books. Later films regrettably jettisoned all that. The danger in most successful movies that get sequels is that they make the mistake of thinking that the follow-ups have to be "bigger"...more explosions, more effects, more villains, etc. Just as we saw in IRON MAN 2. When all that's really needed is an even better story.
