Do you think if I upgrade to the C22 with 4 FS51's that they would match in terms of sound? Or I guess I could buy 2 bs41's and use them in place of my center. I'm even tempted to cut 1/4" off the C21's so it'll fit in my tv stand. Suggestions welcomed!
Pioneer should have build a TV stand to go with the C21 and it's deeper receivers.

No, unfortunately the 2011 models won't voicematch the 2012 models.

If you've properly set your channel levels in your preamplifier, then no. 0 is 0. That's what you're setting. If you haven't set levels, then there's no guessing. Running an auto setup routine (audyssey, MCACC, YPAO, et al) also sets these levels for you.

Hey, how is everyone? Does anyone know anything about the new Andrew Jones wireless speakers, models A3 & A4 ? I want to get my wife a wireless system for her ipad. The A3 is $100.00 more than the Bose and the A4 $200.00 more. When I listened to all of them I thought the Pioneer sounded the best. The pioneer isn't bluetooth but features airplay Wi Fi & HTc connect whatever that is? So the does this mean these will only work with Apple, new HTC phones and Wi Fi ? I would also like something to work with her Samsung Galaxy S3. Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks. merry Christmas.

I just got the the bs41's, bs21's and a c21.... i think i may have a problem with the center, it doesnt timbre match the other speakers well at all on the level test tone and when watching movies voices sound very chesty and muffled at times also the same with music. I will have to pay shipping to exchange it and dont know if it will make a difference to get another one.

i have positioned in different locations and it doesnt help it at all.

is what i describe a characteristic of the speaker or should i try another?

Last time some people had asked that I give some additional notice so here it is.
Also, I would love to hear any ideas you you might have for our next speaker line-up or improvements we should make.

Hi Chris. I recently bought the 52s and 22s. One small suggestion related to my personal install. I needed to flip the speakers over to get the tweeter as close as possible to ear level. The grills WILL NOT flip and still line up. For the 22s I had to take a sharpie and black out the logo. For the 52s I will be cutting off the four posts that don't match up. Please either make the grills so they can be flipped or simply make the logos so that they turn. It is a simple thing, but an issue that does come up. And it can be corrected so cheaply. Thanks for listening.

Well, I am returning it for a replacement..... I cant believe with all the glowing reviews that this speaker should sound this way. this is getting irritating as this is the 3rd set of speakers i have had to return and try something else, i hope the exchange sounds different.... mad.gif

That sucks. The first Pioneers are getting hard to find. However, Tiger Direct has the Phase 2 on sale right now.

Pioneer SP-C22 $69.99
Pioneer SP-BS22 $99.99 pair
Pioneer SP-FS52 $99.99 per tower

If you've got a local Best Buy, they will price match.

Three C21's have sounded bad, or three different sets of speakers have sounded bad?

In case anyone reading this is in the market for a set of Gen 1's, I have two pairs of 41's and a CS21 just listed in the classifieds. All are mint. The 41's are now discontinued from Newegg, as are the 51's. I would expect the CS21 would be soon to follow.

Just to confirm, are the Pioneer SP-BS41-LR speakers passive? And since the output power is quoted as 130W RMS, does that mean I need an amp that can output at least 65W per channel?
All of the Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers are passive. You need an amp, receiver, etc to power them.

No, you don't need an amp with 65 watts to power them, where did you get that number from? People have used the little 20W Lepai amp to power a pair of the Pioneer speakers. I just depends on your usage, size of room, etc.

Any of the current receivers from manufacturers like Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha, Pioneer, Marantz, Sony, Harman Kardon, etc should do the trick.

Speakers don't have output power, the amp/receiver does. What you probably see is either a max power handling number on the back of the speaker or a suggested amp rating. For instance my Energy RC-10's have a recommended amp rating from 20-175 watts. I used a 50 watt receiver with them and it gets louder than I could ever want.

If you buy a decent receiver you'll be fine.

I just purchased the Pioneer SP-FS52 today. I am very pleased with them. I would like to get a center channel, but the Pioneers are out of the question due to their size. Does anyone have a recommendation as to what compact center might go well with these speakers?

Possibly none since they won't "timber" match. So, if you want a smaller center channel you can pretty much pick anything. I would possibly suggest a Klipsch Synergy C1 from ebay, which you can find for about $100 dollars shipped.

Is it fine if I match the Pioneer SP-BS21 speakers with a Pioneer SP-C22 Center , or do I need a SP-C21 Center? I think I read that the sounds won't match, and if they won't, why is that so?

I don't really know anything about speakers.

You will hear some say that it won't match, and then you will have others say that it won't matter. From when I saw them at the store (Fry's and Best Buy) they appear to be different speakers so I am assuming they will sound different.
Yes, I do understand that they are two different speakers, however, if I match some Pioneer SP-BS21 speakers with a SP-C22 Center Speaker, will the audio from both synergize, or will the audio sound wacky and not mesh between the center and the left and right speakers. Does that mean that I should stick with the SP-C21 Center, so the left and right speakers match the center? I do understand that the center, and the left and right speakers should match.

To be honest, I don't know. I own a pair of BS21's, but I use them for surround back not for fronts. From what I've been reading, and what I was recommended by many HT owners is to at least match the front 3 speakers.

during the black friday/cyber monday sale I saw the bs41 go for $85, bs21 go for $40, and c21 for $50. I didn't pull the trigger at the time since I was still researching on them. After doing my research, I decided to go for the bs41's for my mains LR, c21 for the center, and bs21's for the rears but the sale was no longer there.

Until today the sale is back again, but the bs21 is $10 more. No biggie. However, the bs41 is discontinued. I was going to use those for my mains, but I can't a hold of them anymore. I was wondering is it good/better to use the C21 as the two mains LR placed vertically and another C21 for the center compared to the original BS41 plan?

Another option I see that the C22 is on sale for $70 on Tiger Direct. Is it worth to buy that instead of the C21? I will probably use 3 of these as my mains LR and center as well.

I should also include that this is for my desktop/pc set up in a 13x13 room. Using it mostly for movies/shows, occasional gaming, and music.

I was hoping to find something with a similar tweeter. My center is going to go under the tv on the fireplace. That pioneer center is just too large to fit.

Either the Phase 1 or Phase 2 would work fine with your PC. Don't spec a lot of bass out of them though.
thanks for the response.

So is it better to use 3 center speakers as the mains and centers or use two bookshelf + a center for the pioneer series?

Im assuming it's worth the upgrade of the new 2012 model compared to last year then?

I plan on connecting a PSW10 as the subwoofer for $80. Unless there are other options out there.
