me and the wife really like these speakers , much better than those bose cubes .
Now we'll watch for a online sale then order no hurry .
It looks like these are on sale a lot .
thanks

Your Best Buy is rather thorough. Are you willing to play 97.99 for the FS52s? Tigerdirect.com has them on sale for 97.99. What you have to do is added the FS52 to the cart and just before you checkout print the check out page.

When the guy checked me out at BB he even went to Fry's website just to see the price. I was watching him and I think he couldn't find the FS52s on the website. I think he was like "f#$% it I'll just give him the price match". If he saw the price online which was 129.99 he probably wouldn't have given me the price match.

I call BB to see if they price match . The guy I talk to was nice . He call the closest FRYS and said they sold out .He could not match the price .
So I was looking at the cost $ 154 + 10.99(7% Indiana tax) = 164.99
Now tigerdirect $ 195.98 no tax free shipping .
The difference of 30.99
now the SP-C22 Center is 67.99 . with free shipping
Is this still a good deal ? i am looking at a 31 dollar loss
Also has Anyone order thru tigerdiriect /?
thank you

I had BB price match the whole set of Pioneers from Tigerdirect (they wanted to charge tax and shipping on me), then later in the week price match Frys for the same purchase I made a few days earlier. The second retroactive price match took a little more time, but BB kindly gave me another $60 refund. Total on the 5.0 was $320.

FS52 $195.98

I only have these single bose cubes speakers now . Can I use them for the rear sound ?
Or not use any rear speakers now. Just use fronts, center and sub .

Use the cubes for surround. It is not nearly as important for the surrounds to match as it is the front 3. What kind of receiver do you have? The old Sony wasnt it?

The auto setup on the Sony should do a decent job of accomodating the Bose cubes until you can get the proper Pioneer surrounds.

Whoops. My comment is in your comment.

Hi, Guys,

I am just thinking about to update my FS51 into JBL studio 190.

Is this a significant improvement?
can you buy the JBL's locally so that you can test at home?

I have both. The 190 is a big improvement in imaging and top end.

I haven't heard the FS52 though, which is also an improvement over the 51.

I want to now but the center speaker is bigger than I thought . I need to move all my eqe to fit this center .
I can't wait

These tiger direct prices are flat out stupid crazy cheap! The center for $60 bucks??? I'm thinking the center, 4 books across the fronts for Audyssey DSX, and 2 books for rears. All fed thru a tx-nr709 for $430 off A4less.

Assuming you have the space below your TV, get another bookshelf to use as center speaker and ditch the C22. It works much better. Of course, you'll have an additional speaker since they are sold in pairs. If you don't have the space, the C22 will be ok.

Also, the bookshelves need to space between the rear and the wall, so using them as front high, even though they'll sound good, may not work too well. You are better off getting small speakers for that.

How is, you say, that the more expensive center is a worse speaker than the bookshelf?

Any stand recommendations for the bookshelves? Right now I simply have them sitting on the edges of my wide arms of the couch. Works okay, probably not the precise direction I want though (5.1 system only). I think some velcro would probably make them pretty sturdy in that location to, that is from an arm hitting them or something. Are you supposed to drill holes in the speakers for mounting? I don't see any way to mount the bookshelves otherwise...unless you set them on bookshelves, heh. I guess you could also use velcro on wood stands like these:

I have the stands you linked to. I liked them so much I sent another pair to my step-son...Just don't rush assembling and you will be quite satisfied... cool.gif

Did you drill holes in the bottom of your speakers to make them work?
I got a targeted 30% off coupon from newegg yesterday that works toward the FS52 towers. It makes a pair $175 shipped. Very tempting if I didn't already have the FS51s
post #4193 of 5316
These are the stands I use...

If you have pets or little kids then you should be careful. It wouldn't take much to knock the speakers off the stands.

Do they have spikes? Couldn't tell by the eBay pic. I see the top which makes it look like leveling adjustments.

Brian in Bakersfield...

You mean on the bottom plate? There are no "spikes" but if you look at the black and white picture you'll see that there is something there for grip on the floor (on each corner of the bottom plates).

So again, how do you connect these Pioneer bookshelves to the stands, drill holes in them?

The stands most likely come with double sided tape squares. I know my stands did (different brand) and thought all stands would.

The center is a fine speaker, I am not knocking it down. I own one and use it because I don't have the flexibility. However, vertically oriented speakers sound much better than horizontal oriented speakers. There is a lot of research that is not widely publish. Dedicated Center speakers (horizontal MTM) are designed that way because they fit better under the Tv, look nicer, etc. That doesn't mean they won't work, but it means you can do better.

I wasn't aware of this until somebody else suggested it and I did my own research. WOW, talk about things you don't know. How would one think different when all the manufacturers sell you a "center" speaker.

Are you referring to the stands on Ebay that I listed? You don't drill anything. You simply just place the speaker on the stand. They won't fall off unless someone knocks them off.
