Need a quick opinion on placement of this surround speaker .. (pic included)

I am installing the Mirage OMD5s I bought for a 7.1 configuration. The room doesn't have the best layout for a surround system let alone a 7.1, but they were on sale and I don't plan to live here much more than a year. The viewing area isn't extremely wide so the left surround is never going to really get a wide placement. My question is what would be the best placement option for the right surround speaker ...

Option A - is on that left beam
Option B - is mounted between the two beams ... I can Omnimount if needed
Option D - is on the next beam over to the right from A

BTW - sorry for making the room look so long I shot the pic with a wide angle lenses

Thanks in advance

Is this for your surround or sourround back speakers?

Surrounds on the sides .. backs are out of the picture

I would try to put them in position as closely as DL recommends - including mounting as close to ear level recommendations as possible. Having them that high will be no better than in-ceiling speakers - something I'm no fan of.

if you want to mount them to the ceiling beams, then i would suggest D.

can you mount the speakers to the support beam going from left to right in the pic?

From the pic you supplied i would have to say B

the center of the tv is close to the center beam, 2 beams to the left is the left surround, 2 beams to the right is the "D" beam. also, given the option, you want the surrounds to be slightly further away than closer to give you a bigger sense of space.

the receiver will correct for the different delay, if you have a receiver that has room correction software.

but depending on where your sofa will be, i might suggest placement on the support beam with the speakers placed facing the seating area, if the surrounds can be placed behind the seating area, you will get a better sense of surround envelopment.

i'd say b as it looks the most even and don't forget a HUGE rug!
