looking to build some powered monitors for my studio... just a standard 8"-10" and a tweet speaker. i'm having a hard time finding a full range plate amp with decent power. found a really cool company(hypex) that builds full range plate amps with digital crossovers. problem is... they dont sell them in the u.s. and i dont think the voltage is compatible to the u.s. and... they are very exspensive. any other full range plate amps out there with decent power? too bad i.c.e. doesnt deal with d.i.y.'ers

hypex sells and ships to the US. If you signup to their online store. You can order the AS2.100 and the site will tell you the EUR conversion US $$$ + shipping costs.

yeah... i just seen that. still, $460 per module is pretty damn expensive

Is it $460 shipped now?

I had them priced around $360 shipped this summer.

Remember for $800 you are getting 4 amp channels and a DSP. Do you know of any cheaper options?

4 channels of amplification is still close to $500 and the cheapest DSP is the DCX at $300.

$800 is for the hypex solution isnt expensive.

cool... just went back to the site and looked again. quick question. how much power do these modules have? the 8" mid i'm looking at is 200 watts rms. i dont plan on driving mutiple speakers. just need one module per speaker box. as stated before... gonna go with an 8" or 10" and a tweet.

pretty much... each module will be putting out 100 watts? or is it 200 watts bridged?
The produce 100Watts on each channel, I do not know if they can be bridged at all.

There is a newer more powerful version available with 400Watts + 400Watts.

Yes, I think they are the amps that Mark Seaton uses. Definitely up there in price, it makes the Hypex choice more reasonable now

Another option that needs a little DIY box.

Im hoping someone does this at some point.

I just ordered the MiniDSP though, its time to tinker with that and for under $150, it seems like a great value.

They don't sell to the public.

Why not go with a external vs a plate would be way more cheaper for same or better result, + if the amp goes south for any reason you can plug an other one and carry on just my 2 cents.
