It's an interesting idea. But realistically I can't see them divorcing the studios too much. Hulu is a content distributor, so if they do something to harm the production of said content, they are hurting the only 'product' they supply.
I would think how shows are produced would need to dramatically change. That may well happen, but I would think it would be reactionary, not proactive. If the broadcasters didn't actually own many of the studios, things would be much easier.
