I'm starting this thread as I just got the BD and hope it will have some good bass. Reviews indicate it will.

I will get my copy today and watch tonight. My subs are way better than yours so I am sure it will sound best at my house if you want to watch it over here.

He he. That sounds good to me PD I'll be there in about 12-13 hours buddy. I have to see how the stack does first though.

Wait a minute...we could do dual stacks if we put our heads together on this one...

Bring your Ultras...I may even look into your amp issues for you...

The only amp issues I have are the ones that cause my walls to creak and moan...

Iron Man 2 will be terrific. The flight scenes, both take-off and landings, are excellent and the scenes with Mickey Rourke's energy whips have plenty of bass. I don't know if the bass is super deep, but it has tremendous impact.

I have my LMS5400 now built and ready to test but I do not have my 4000Watt amp

STill with the EP2500 its a good movie to test it on tonight vs my two ported boxes.

So, this one has some GREAT LFE!!!! I'm liking it better than the first one. Several scenes are very potent indeed.
Watched it last night. Dual Empires. Great bass. Not the hardest hitting although a couple scenes hit pretty hard but it's consistently good.
I rated it Reference in the tier thread.

This one gets 5/5 stars in the LFE category from me. Outstanding stuff. Demo worthy.

Still waiting on the Marathon or you getting something else?
Picked it up at lunch. IM is one of the only movies I can watch over and over.

I just set my subs +2 hot...which is actually flat according to my SPL meter. The AS-EQ sets it at 73db when it level matches.

Just waiting for it to get dark outside.

Still waiting...back ordered until Oct 7th. I waited this long no reason to not wait until then.

Cool. Not too much longer then. Really looking forward to your impressions on your new LMS, Penn.

Out of curiosity, what would you rate the first one?
5/5 easily. Definite reference material. Incredible LFE.

The first one is 4 to 4.5/5. The sequel is more impressive IMO. Some scenes will tax lesser subs I think.

Thanks for the info! Looks like I'll have to buy this one also

I completely agree. I found myself thinking "DAMN..." throughout the entire movie. (Said it a couple of times specifically for Scarlett, but I digress...)
I found IM2 to be more impressive than WoW in terms of repeated deep drops of LFE.

Not sure if it tops WOTW (possibly, give it more time), but it's got some great LFE in it. Seems like it's been a while since we've had a good one come out.

There's a few scenes that aren't super low, but definitely powerful. Even at 3 dB hot and -17.5 from reference, one scene was hitting 106 dB peak from my LP with my Ultras.
I don't get that much of a sense of true depth like WOTW, but there is certainly plenty of punch in many scenes. All-in-all, it's a lot of fun to watch and listen to.

OK got my copy at lunch.

I also picked up The Losers while I was at it. I got so at Comcast this weekend. I did an On Demand rental of the movie and it only came over as stereo not DD as was advertised. Still sounded pretty good but knew there was alot more in the Audio so I picked it up because I liked the movie.

Going to be a fun weekend.
I have more movies than I know what to do with...and certainly not enough time to watch them all....ah well...it's fun when I can watch them. Just demo'ed the Skadoosh scene the other day for my buddy,,,,and wha! holy crap lots of bass.

Peronsally I really like the implosion of Sauron in LOTR the best...and Master & Commander opening battle scene...now THAT is bass!!!

Picked it up and my DTS-10 blew me around the room ... nowadays that's the closest I get to blown since the gf and I split ...

Almost hard to tell which was more satisfying ... ... almost.

I really like the Air Force base "fly by" scene. That one really pumps loudly (beginning of Ch. 10).

When you guys are "testing" the LFE of any movie, are you watching it at reference level volumes?

Not yet personally, but when the wife and kids are out of the house I plan to crank it. I was -15 from reference today at loudest.

I stay anywhere from -15 to -10 but keep Dynamic EQ on.
