I got an HC3800 a few months back and I've been using a white sheet.
Now that you've stopped laughing, I'm thinking about getting an inexpensive pull down screen. I feel I get a decent image with the sheet, but it seems impossible to get out all the wrinkles and they're annoying in bright scenes. I recently moved the setup to my living room (I had originally set it all up in another room temporarily), with the sheet on a frame placed in front of my TV. The idea was that I could just move the screen when I want to watch the TV, and I wouldn't have to move the sofa or speakers. Turns out it's not so easy to move it, and a pull down screen would be really easy. The other problem with this setup, the screen not being on a wall, is that a good bit of light gets through the sheet and lights up the room behind the screen (image is quite watchable from the back!), which is obviously not good.
I'm not ready to invest a lot in a screen at this point (I'll be moving in a year, as well as getting married), so I'm thinking of getting a screen from $150 to $300 to live with now, and probably invest in something better in two or three years. Does this seem reasonable?
