I use to wonder how someone could take years to finish their basement. Now I can see how time flies when life keeps you busy.

Not much progress to brag about. Insulation is 90% done in the entire basement. That is all to report for now.

A person commented in my thread how it took them 5 years to finish their theater, because they are doing what I'm doing - every month you have X dollars of cash, and you use that - but you may only work during the winter (landscaping takes precedence in the summer).

I'm currently at 1 month so far and I think I'm about 65% done, have to finish by spring!

Most of my clips are up on the ceiling. Just need to put some xps rigid foam to be used in the joist that faces the outside wall. After that I need to fix a few 2x4's that are askew from the others. Then I should be ready for drywall!

Sherwin-Williams had a discount going on, so I picked up some paint while it was cheaper.

Pictures will follow when more progress has been made.

Another option for the front of the room if you are planning on using an acoustically transparent screen is to go with on wall speakers. My theater is quite small and I didn't want to lose 3 feet behind a false wall. With my setup I only lose 7 inches. Just something to consider.

Drywall is looking good. Are you doing it yourself?

Your making good progress. Taping and Mudding seems to be the spot that slows down a lot of people. Keep up the pace during that and you'll be set.

Thanks Greg. I am doing the drywall myself. I am still planning to hire out the taping and mudding.

I agree with your suggestion of on wall speakers. If I find one that is designed to be used that way, and I can afford them I will definitely look into it.

Wow, you remind me so much.. of me!

I literally finished the drywall today.. and only because I had spackled everything else. So I had to finish. Those little pieces are such a PITA.

It's definitely a milestone when you can cross drywall off the list. The stuff that remains do be done is not so enormous as to be overwhelming. Drywall is definitely intimidating when you do it yourself.
