Would be great to get a list create the threads then edit your first post w/ links to the thread w/ a header above the links describing what the link does i.e. link to settings, link to 3d issues, link to smashed panels, link to sony support sucks. etc...just a thought. I'm glad we got this far..Learned a lot about the TV since I joined I couldn't have learned elswhere.

here is an example of a settings only thread started by another user for my old XBR:

(SETTINGS ONLY!!) Sony KDL-V26/V32/V40XBR1 Bravia LCD (SETTINGS ONLY!!)

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=618544

This could be a good starting point

I received something called "3D World, Created by Sony; Sony Blu-Ray 3D Experience Disk" (Volume 1 no less) after I registered the TV in the mail. It looks like a demo disk of sorts but I've yet to view it and don't know what you saw in the store either.

Anyone notice when watching hockey in HD that close-ups on red uniforms look really strange. hard to describe but it almost looks like dithering or digital noise that only shows up on the uniforms, almost like they are digitally created. Everything else looks great.

Mosquitos effect. I've seen this in colorful logo or jersey. Turning off all Bravia engine might help.

I'm one of the people that posted about the dark spots on the screen. The spots do not correlate with the mounting holes on the back of the TV.

I had the TV for a few days before putting it in the Sony sub stand. The spots either appeared, or were worsened; not really sure... Replacement is set to be delivered tomorrow (as long as everyone has recovered from the Snowpocalyse). I'll be putting it into the stand immediately and looking for the spots.

Fingers crossed...

Don't worry! I have the 55NX810 on a bunchin stand, and no black dots!

I will be testing Blu-Ray of course, I just haven't had the time to watch a full-length film yet.

Every provider has compressed content. It simply boils down to who has the least compression artifacts in their PQ.

Here's an image of the shadows on all four corners of my 46" set. Is everyone's like this? It's mostly visible on backgrounds that are all one color (dark or light doesn't matter), but it is sometimes noticeable otherwise.

Luckily I don't have those two spots in the middle of the screen. And I haven't seen any dead pixels. Honestly this picture doesn't show the shadows that I'm talking about that well, because it looks worse in person.

Just came from a 7 year old tube TV so I'm just wondering if I'm expecting too much out of an edge lit LED.

Did it also come with the "MJ" and "Bolt" Disc? How long did it take after you registered?

Thanks.

I did what the directions stated and laid it face down for installation, but really didn't like doing it. Think I'll get some help and set the TV down into the stand this time. How'd you do it?

I have the same dark corners on my TV too. 46". It's not too bad only visible with white background.

Just noticed that Samsung uses 1.3 HDMI ports on their 65 inch 6k TV. I looked around about 2 weeks ago for the type of HDMI that comes built in the nx810's. I couldn't find anything. Just wondering if anyone knows. This whole HDMI "thing;" thats supposed to uncomplicate things works just fine for simple applications. When it comes to interfacing a/v's, Settops, connecting cable's etc it becomes another story.. thx.

uhmm...I thought 1.3 won't work for 3D so NX810's have 1.4a HDMI.

Hence the reason I'm asking. The new Samsung 3D TV's have HDMI 1.3 ports. I went looking 2 weeks ago for the 810's. There are no specs on the sony site, so I can't just assume 1.4. Many recievers claim to have 1.4, some have 1.3..it's confusing. For example, there is no way in heck that my SETTOP box made 4 years ago has an HDMI 1.4 port. Yet it's suppose to support 3D. Cable's and ports are confusing.

Is there a settings/calibration thread for the NX810 series? Because I have some questions about my 60" model.

I've not made any changes to the factory (out-of-box) settings, other than to change it to "Warm 1". But occasionally, it seems that reds are just slightly magenta-tinged (most people wouldn't notice it). Just wondering what I'm missing by not adjusting things (though I admit I don't usually mess with that stuff and am reluctant to).

Overall, we're VERY satisfied with the picture. Great blacks, contrast, colors, etc. And no discernable flashlighting or clouds (can barely see the black bars above/below a wide screen movie). And Blueray movies look absolutely phenominal (our other big-screen is 720p and while it looks good, I can definitely see the difference!).

Thanks!

I've had my KDL 4100 for about 2 years now. Over the last 3 months, a series of black bars and black areas, on the left of my display screen, have become evident...right side of display seems to be ok.

This black apparition goes away after the TV is on for around 10 minutes.

I bought an extended warranty, and service provider said to get the firmware updated ( I did) and unplug unit from surge suppressor, plugging it directly into wall outlet (I did).

No luck.

Any ideas as to what is going on?

I remember a lot of complaints with dark shadows with the Sammy LEDs which is why I tried the Sony. Kinda disappointed that even with local dimming the shadows are still there.

I can see it in all mostly solid colors. Or if the image is light in general. It just shows up worst in white.

I put the television faced down on a table so I could remove the original stand plate.

Mine does it too in a bright screen, however it doesn't lose light output but actually is brighter than the rest of the screen. It's really minuscule, and I only noticed it when I forced a rigid testing. Otherwise I love the set

"most people wouldn't notice it"

I notice it. Do you notice it when watching a BluRay or just when you're watching broadcast TV?

I just noticed today that SonyStyle.ca has it on sale for only $99 (down from $399). My question is, is it worth it? Sure it looks nice, but are you better off using the regular stand or wall mounting it and getting a soundbar instead?

The tv unit it will be going on is low enough for the 6 degree angle so that isn't a concern for me...

What are your thoughts about it?

It's been that price on sony.ca for some time. Suprised they're not sold out. It's a steal. Almost free. Americans would have cleaned them out in a day.
Soundbar, mounting that's personal preference.

Excellant - Thanks for starting the thread. Anyone could have taken the initiative to start the thread but no one did. We all waited for you
