Official Sony Bravia KDL NX810 owners' thread (60NX810, 55NX810, 46NX810) - Page 112

Not too sure what Directv is offering, but I have 3d on demand and ESPN 3d. Just recorded and watched a replay of the bcs national championship in 3d. It was excellent. Really gives you the on the field Feel.

I tried searching throughout this thread and saw some with similar problems and you all have fixed it, but I've been trying to get DTS to work for the past few days.

PS3 to TV (HDMI1)
HTPC to TV (tried both jacks HDMI1 and 2, ATI Radeon 4550 with HDMI out)
TV to Receiver (Optical out)

First I don't think it's my cable, GT5 and CoD:BlackOps 3D works on PS3, and Dolby Digital is passed through properly and decoded at the receiver, but when I try to play a Bluray or MKV with DTS sound, the audio is not coming out at all.

Both works when I tried to send signal directly to the receiver, but I prefer to have one cable to let TV output sound to receiver instead.

What am I doing wrong?

Yeah I used the adhesive it came with but it stopped sticking in about a month.
I don't get one thing though. If Sony invented the soundbar, doesn't it have to fit right where it was intended to be?

Salesperson at Sony Style store in manhattan was clueless - they did not have a 55incher on a stand on display (only on a wall) The 60inch stand is way too close to the bottom of the TV and the saleperson insisted you could not adjust that stand but she wasn't sure about the 55.

I am just going to assume that i will have to jerry-rig a mount for the top of the TV as I don't want to attach the whole thing (tv and sound bar) to a wall.

Anyone have ANY advice?

The TV sales people in SonyStyle NYC should work in a flea market selling RCA TVs from the 80s.

As a matter of fact I think Sony is very good CS. I did notice that female reps are much nicer then male. Most woman are from the Philippines and they are very kind and polite. If I don't like the rep I just call back. Poor customer service won't change my mind about Sony. It's cheap labor phone reps.

It took about a week to get them and they really don't do much for me, so if your feeling like your missing out on something big you're not. Should have been a slam dunk since its mentioned on their $%$ website to call the number for free polarizers but its not.

The filters allow you to tilt your head and still see 3D. Before that I had to tie my head to the wall so it won't move.

You have a surround system? Make sure the TV is playing through the external speakers if your PS3 audio is set to bitstream. The internal speakers won't play DTS in my experience.

I was streaming music from my PC last night and while the files are fine on my computer, on the TV the music was skipping to the point where I got very annoyed.

are you 100% sure? damn that sucks then.
what if i want to watch a 3D Bluray from my PS3 that has DTS Surround (i mean if that exists)

am I Sh! out of luck and must separately output PS3 audio via Optical to the 5.1 system?

and yeah my TV is set to output audio to external speakers. PS3 i just let it configure the audio out automatically (the manual setup warning about damaging speakers scared me) like I said Dolby Digital 5.1 works but never with DTS. if I switch to directly output to 5.1 system, both my PS3 and HTPC can pass DTS via HDMI.

the thing is my 5.1 is 2 years old and isn't 1.4 compatible and it won't passthrough 3D back to TV either. so that route is not going to work either.

chdwil..sorry to hear all your issues. I had a similar story where when I received my TV, there was a crack in the lower left half way up the middle of the tv. I immediately called Sony and set up DB Shcenker to pick up my broken TV. I saw that the TV reached the Sony warehouse in Texas but Sony never called me or let me know when they were sending a new set back. I told them to forget the TV and jsut refund my money. THat took forever and after 2 weeks of waiting for my refund to be credited, I just went to the sonystyle store and picked up a new set. I was out about 3,000 but Sony eventually refunded me shortly after.

I know now to never order a TV online again.

Good luck with your NX810 and hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Hey guys, new poster on AVS but used to browse a decent amount.

Anyway, I finally upgraded my 40" 720p Bravia TV from 2006 (I can't believe I paid $2k for those specs just 4.5 years ago!)

My new 55NX810 came in yesterday and I quickly threw it on the wall and took down the EX710 I bought from BB 2 weeks ago. For the extra ~200
(internet deal, no tax, free shipping) how could I not? Anyway I was extremely excited for the glass monolithic design, the dynamic edge led, built in wifi, and 240hz. Although I still consider the monolithic design worth the extra 200 alone, I was quite dissapointed with netflix on wifi.

I currently stream netflix from my ps3 to the tv and was excited to have built in wifi so I didn't have to power up my ps3 every time I wanted to stream movies. Long story short, I connected my TV to my wireless-N router (brand new yesterday as well) and fired up netflix. The image was terrible! Also, can you only view your instant queue and not browse or search? I couldn't seem to do anything but browse my instant queue. I switched over to my ps3 and played the same show. It was significantly better quality over my tv. Does the ps3 upconvert the signal and the TV not? That's the question I came on here to ask. I was quite dissapointed in the picture of the native netflix app on the tv.

No you cannot add que on TV. Must add thru PS3 or web. Is your PS3 connected with LAN or wifi? When I compared mine, PS3 & TV are both on LAN not WIFI I find the stream quality is about the same in fact I think TV's stream to be of better quality.

Both are connected through wifi with the TV being a few feet closer to the router. When I switch back to cable I will have the router right next to the ps3 and will probably keep it hardwired. However I was hoping to avoid running 20' of cat5 through the wall to the TV.

The netflix app on the tv sucks badly.

I don't buy that logic at all. One bad experience?. Lots of us ordered our TV's online. Same thing could happen from sony store.

I'm 100% sure. I have the 60EX700 and its the same way. Maybe in a future update they will address it. I have all my stuff going to the back of the tv and all the optical going to the receiver. The only 2 that are combined are my cable box and the online streaming from the tv itself (remember the 60EX700 has internet which is great) to the receiver.

What do you mean by not too sure what directv is offering?. Price wise forget that? They claim to have some new 3-d channel, and you like the 3d.

BTW - What's w/ nx810 #3??

How many times have you lost reception because of weather?

I mean I no longer have Directv, so I do not know what they offer for 3d. I have ESPN 3d on my cable and it is good when they have programming on. It is supposed to go full broadcasting this month.

More importantly.....

Tv #3 was delivered today and let me tell you I can not remember the last itme I was so anxious. Watching them lift the box and reveal the screen was agonizing!! Then what do you know, no cracks!!! I had to just look for a few moments to make sure I was in reality. Then I checked every angle, with the sun and so forth. plugged it in and presto! No problems. The stand is even level compared to the other which tilted to the right.

Yes 3rd time is a charm.

Now I know I will be overly worried about my 4 year old son hitting it and cracking the screen. I need something to calm my nerves now.

Then I tried to play the original AVI using Windows Media Players DNLA feature. The TV once again saw the file and played it, but the video quality was horrible. What am I doing wrong? I'd prefer to just use the USB flash drive.

Thanks for any help.

Anyone have any input? What method are you guys using for the DLNA capabilities?

I have the 60NX810 and PS3 both hard wired to my Netgear WNDR3700

for what it is worth, Netflix interface and quality is much better thru PS3 which puts out 1080p

I'm not sure what resolution the built in Netflix NX810 app is doing but it is not as good- but is passable if I am to lazy to power up the PS3

also- the PS3 has Gigabit Ethernet while the NX810 seems to only be 100BT- my router is a Gigabit router- maybe that helps (?)

Hi all,
I just wanted to make sure everyone know at amazon that the
Sony TDG-BR100 Adult Size 3D Active Glasses, Black - Sony = 99.95
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER
and

Xpand Universal X103 3D Glasses Compatible with Active 3D TV's, Black - XpanD= 98.95 ( this morning I think they were ~94)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER
just to let everyone know if someone cares. Also this is as of now!

I have tried some more testing and the crosstalk is less noticeable when at 720p vs. 1080p ( at least playing back 3D half.mvk files so far) from a computer.
Also as I noted somewhere before some things like the dish network receiver and my media player that can only go up to 1080i, it is best to put all devices that can do only 1080i max to 720p!! At 1080i these TV's cant convert it properly and cause distortion in the picture only on certain material (portions of content, etc.) being played back.

Does anyone actually keep "LED Dynamic Control" set to "OFF"? I tried it with it off for quite a while since people said that it's a good way to test for clouding, but blacks suck with it "OFF" (at least on my set).

We all keep it set to ON because OFF blacks tend to suck IOHO.

I might be getting this TV to replace a kdf-50e2000 (2006 model), due to bad optical block in my current tv, but was wondering what the off center/off axis viewing is like, I sit probably 30-45degrees off center and the projection tv didnt have a problem with viewing from this angle which is why I bought it in the first place. But I am really worried about the viewing angles on these LCD's as when I last looked at them a couple of years ago, it still wasnt that great, you had to be pretty much straight on with it. My room is only about 10-12 ft deep so I cant put the TV way out at the end of the room and still have good viewing angles. I am assuming the picture quality will be much better than my 06 model correct. It could only go 1080i, this new model of course does 1080p, is there really any difference that you can actually see with the naked eye. Thanks for your help everyone.
