That is conclude there's nothing wrong w/ the TV. All of the mfgrs are using different formats. the TV broadcasters use different formats and Sony's TV is designed to work a certain way expecting everone else to comply. Doubt anything differs w/ the other manufacturers.

Just what the Sony support told me. No ghosting issues with their 810. If you having problems it's the signal, content etc.

You don't see xtalk with Killzone 3?

I really havent done alot of gaming on my PS3 recently but I tried demos of most 3D titles and found them to all have some degree of depth and very little crosstalk. 3d Blu-rays have been very very good so far.

I'm not disagreein w/ you, I haven't played the game. Just paid attention to the 3d engine exchange from the get go..I was shocked Sony would invest so much money on that experiment. It's kind of similar to what they do when you buy a car and complain that its not perfect 2 or 3 times(engine idles rough for example) but not enough for it to be a flaw. Don't think they can upgrade 3d w/ a FW update. They'd have to come out with a new board or chip w/in the board, I think.

That's the problem..the seriouse gamers see crosstalk. fly by nighters that watch 3d every now an again on bluray movies w/o fast scenes and all don't notice it as much or at all. Especially w/ the demos that are made specifically for the TV. I watched 2 movies the demo and AIW, didn't notice crosstalk but only watched 2 blurays. I'm getting baseball 2011k and the show both are supposed to be in 3d, I'll report back. I'm sure you can't wait..

I think you might be confusing crosstalk with ghosting. Crosstalk has nothing to do with fast scene, even static scene you can see crosstalk. Ghosting can happen on regular 2d movie not specifically 3D related. Crosstalk is annoying to a point it distracts the viewers.
I recently watched Despicable Me on 3D BD, but disappointed that it had lots of crosstalk that I did not find in theater. I would assume BD has better quality but not in this case. I still don't get why theater projection with cheap plastic (non-active shutter) glasses produce 0 crosstalk where as we spent thousands on TV with $150 glasses give us so so 3D.

In the midwest it's pop (a soda is ice cream, seven-up and chocolate or fruit syrup),then across the Mississippi it's soda pop, after the rockies it's soda
Oh it's too confusing.......just order an A&W Root Beer.....

Hi.

I am an owner of a 55NX810. Do you know if there is support for NTFS external (USB) HDD (not FAT32! I need NTFS!), so that I can playback MKV files (720p/1080p)?
If not, is there any update if this is going to be supported by Sony soon?

Thank you.

Is this normal on this tv? While seeing the new yogi 3d Movie after the fire works fiasco there is a 2 to 4 second pause. It's a full black screen. On that short scene transition I saw clouding all over the screen. Is this normal? Is it because in 3 mode the backlight is set to max? Besides That the d was awesome ,really bright. On another note a still can't get that soap effect the samsungs have. I really like that effect

If cross-talk is the white "shadowing" or duplicated image that appears behind things in 3d then my set has a ton of it too. To the point where I am considering requesting a service call on the set. I have 4 sets of glasses and have the polarized lenses on all of them and it is unbearable on most content. I remember reading somewhere in this thread someone recommended adjusting the 3d to +2 for Black Ops and I couldnt even play it like that. So far the only GAME to not give me a ton of crosstalk is the mortal kombat in 3d demo. I just played Crysis 2 in 3d on xbox 360 (which got great 3d reviews even for the xbox) and it had terrible cross talk. Most movies have some degree but watching bolt 3d the other day was almost unwatchable also because of it. Is anyone else experiencing more cross talk on certain content then others? anything to play with in the settings to reduce it (im back to zero in the 3d settings)

All of our set if not all have the same issue. The reason you see no xtalk in MK is because that game has not much 3D depth. More depth = more crosstalk. I find that Killzone 3 with +2 setting works the best for gameplay images but cut scenes still have crosstalk. Sometimes +2 fixes something but screws up other images: for example, in GT5 I can get perfect 3D image with default 3D strength setting in game to 3 with +2 setting on TV but speed info and map become double images. I think there's a sweet spot in 3D engine, if parallex goes out of this sweet spot we see crosstalk.

Really?, you like the soap opera effect. Go into picture settings and set MotionFlow to smooth. That should do it.

Have you experienced cross talk in movies, if so which ones? Like I said bolt 3d seemed horrible but people were raving about it on other threads. Is the cross talk on our sets worse than that of other sonys or even other makes?

Pretty much all of movies I've watch so far have xtalk maybe except RE: Afterlife but if I re watch it I'm sure I'll find it. I have Imax Hubble 3D on order, hopefully that one is perfect. I haven't had 3D experience with other set but Plasma also has xtalk, the one I watched at BestBuy demo but not as pronounced as LCD set.

Do you guys get a ton of clouding in 3d mode. I didn't notice it until I tried 3d. There was a really big cloud towards the bottom right. Do you think there is any point in calling sony or is this just normal. This is my 3rd led tv and each had clouding.

In 3D mode local dimming is off that's why you see clouding. Off by default, cannot change it in 3D mode.

I still see it faint when not in 3d mode it just drives me crazy. At least if I knew everyone was experiencing it i wouldn't feel like I have a problem.

So my Canadian friend sent me the Bunchin stand, opened it and the stand is bent. Box is fine...definitely something happened at the factory. Sony US will not exchange it, Sony Canada won't do anything either. Only the original purchaser may return the item. (Seriously?). So instead of paying another $40 x 2 shipping, I am stuck with the stand. Really not happy but that's what I get for trying to save $300.
In order to exchange it: First told I need to send it back to the friend in Canada, then the purchaser needs to send it to Sony, or take it to a Sony Store. Of course by the time it gets there the 30 days for exchange or return will be over... Just a little about this conversation; was told by this rep that he shouldn't even be talking to me as I was in the States and calling the Canadian company. How did Sony know that the damage didn't occur during his shipping the item to me? How does Sony know he didn't open and damage the item...I was getting a little peeved and stated that the box was pristine, unopened when it arrived. When I asked to speak with his super he stated that he was not and would not 'escalate' this as obviously I understood what he was telling me and he had other customers to help. He then disconnected the line.
I then called back and the nicer North American sounding customer rep, set up an RA so I could return direct to Sony Canada, but then the new unit would be sent to the purchaser in Canada, and again then they would have to send it to me. I do not want to put all this extra crap on my friendship, so it is what it is.
A word to the wise..was told "there is no warranty for Sony product outside of the country where it was purchased". So if you are in the US and buy something in Canada, not warrantied in or by Sony US and visa versa. Also goes for any where else, ie buy in Europe etc.
I guess your SOL if you are military and/or move from country to country.
And so goes my life..............

does everyone experience clouding in 3d mode. I tried the vizio full array which had horrible clouding. The 40hx800 wasn't as bad and now the 46nx810 has a lot more than the hx800. Do you think there is anyway to get it fixed.

The cheap plastic glasses at the theater use a special projector ($$$), that is projecting the left and right eye simultaneously, with the cheap glasses filtering out each eye. This makes the glasses super cheap (important in a theater of customers), and makes the 3d image perfect without flickering, but also makes the projector ultra expensive (try google searching for home 3d projectors. the cost is absurd).

Cross talk is ghosting, only it's specific to 3d shutter glasses. Since the left or right image is still displayed on the lcd from the previous eye, the ghost image is interfering with the alternate eye. And yes, 'fast' scenes can cause more cross talk, since a bright moving shape can cause more ghosting (which means more crosstalk).

For those interested or searching for 3d content. I've tried:

Bolt 3d: 3d effects looked good. a little cross talk in some bright scenes (switching to 'theater' mode helps a little).

Killzone 3: unplayable to me. Too much cross talk, the game HUD makes it even worst. Tried playing with the 3d depth setting in the game, and couldn't find any setting that looked ok (except for 0 depth...). I might have been able to fiddle with the settings more, but I gave up on this after feeling nauseated after 10 minutes of use.

Mortal Kombat PS3 demo (free on PSN network): 3D is surprisingly good, and adds a nice depth to the background and menus, without being distracting or tiring.

Motorstorm Apocalypse PS3: 3d looked ok. Far better than Killzone, but still some slight cross talk and occasional headaches.

Coraline Bluray 3D: Looks amazing! Lots of 3d depth, great 3d quality. Can see lots of small details I never knew were there as I simply could not see with such clarity when using DVD. Highly recommended.

Now I just gotta figure out why ARC doesn't work when using the tv's built in Pandora/Netflix/Hulu. I think it's something with my receiver settings, but no luck so far.
IMAX Under the Sea w/Jim Carrey is great as well in 3D.

Killzone 3D looks ok, some crosstalk, +2 helps.

I think in general 3D games with so much movement is hard on the eyes and brain. My head hurts after like 10-15 minutes as well.

Anyone watch Avatar 3D yet?
do you get a lot of clouding. It really is a shame because i feel like this tv would be great without it. Do you think that is something that could go away overtime.

Just posted my settings on the nx810 settings thread using Calman calibration software and an i1pro colorometer. Results are very pleasing.
