Did anyone get an email from Sony about a new chip available for the 3d engine to eliminate crosstalk and allow the use of passive glasses?
thx!.

I noticed the 46nx810, at Costco the other day, was made in Mexico. I know several years ago they started outsourcing production to other countries, but i thought Sony still manufactured their higher end products in Japan. Is this still the case?

Every television in North America are assembled in Mexico. Components of the television are made in Japan, China, Korea, and Taiwan. Though the one set that was apparently assembled and made in Japan was the XBR10.

Hey how small are the Sony TDGBR50/B glasses? I know they are for kids but would they still fit on an adults head?

I ask this because I got an e-mail from sony which I can print and bring to the store and get 2 pairs for free. Just wondering before I go and pick them up.

Thought I'd seek out some opinions in this group here. Will also ask 720 owners too since they may not read here.

Have a 7 months old KDL60NX810.
Noted two small marginal dark spots on scenes that are off white in background. One size of a quarter, other size of a dime. Near the center. Hardly ever see it on TV or movies but once you see it, you know to look for it.

Sony local tech came out and can replace the whole display, could take 8 weeks to get new glass and do it in home.

Sony also offered a brand new KDL60NX720 at n/c to swap.
Aside from a few new s/w features and gorilla glass, not much else there. But its technically only 120hz vs 240hz panel in the NX810.

Or could ask for NX810 refurb that they are selling. New NX810's gone.

Too many choices, readers thoughts?

Depends how small your head is haha.. No, they won't fit a normal sized adult head. I do now this guy (a real PITA), always complains and never goes home and I'm sure it would fit his head and he's at least 50 but that's an exception. they're for kids..At worst you can sell them on ebay for 75.00 and use the money for something else.

You're not the first to report this problem. But I forget what the solution was because it was so long ago. I think replacing the panel did the trick for some. I'd start there and then if that don't work then go for the exchange. If you drag it out long enough they might come out with the 60hx929 or whatever that they could offer as another option, or even a 65"er. I'm thinking they're offering the 60nx710 b/c its 60 inches and comes closest to the 810. the 820 is not available in a 60". I would make it clear that MSRP for the 60nx810 is 4999.00 wheres the 710 is in the 3's I think. Just my 3 cents.

Sorry for the late reply. My girlfriend actually uses those as the adult ones are far too big. She can still wear her normal glasses underneath (although the real reason she got them was because they are available in pink. I have a massive head and I can squeeze into them (but I was scared of breaking them if I was to repeatedly use them.)

Also how on earth did you get that email? Paying 75 bucks for them was a kick in the pants.

USappliance is having one of there super sony sales. You get the 55hx929 + 6 yes 6 pair of "kids" glasses for 2550 and one guy said:
Sony calls them "smaller size" and they still comfortably fit most adults. Some sites promote them as "youth" or "kids" but the side arms are adjustable for different heads. I tried on a pair and they fit me fine.

I was on the phone with a rep today and he told me Sony prefers some packed format or something and has trouble with side by side, prefers top to bottom and they're working on it for what it's worth..

Just wanted to check with fellow nx810 owners about an issue I've noticed with my tv. To me its hardly ever noticeable and not a big deal at all, the creases that run about a fed cm wide along borders of screen, they come and go to varying degrees. On the hx929 forum it is a much talked about issue, and even on cnet review of tv. Anyways just wanted to see if anyone else noticed because I personally think the issue is with the monolith panels, but Sony has only said it is isolated instances of hx929s.

If you go to sonystyledotcom under support->TV's->service, you'll see a thread dedicated to this issue regarding the new 55hx929's and "creasing". It's a known issue as far as sony UK is concerned but Sony US won't confirm.(the way I read it). I haven't seen this issue with "creasing" pop up in this thread and I haven't seen it on my 60nx810. No regrets and no doubt the best TV I've owned. I have to admit I am amazed at the number of people that still think 3d is a "gimmick" in 2011.

No issue here on a 60nx810.

Yeah never had any issues with 3d always thought it was very impressive with blue rays. Just wonder if Sony US will acknowledge that issue, that would be pretty substantial admission on their behalf.

Did you get one? I personally have not, but I did get a call from Sony inquiring whether or not I was happy with my 3d after the firmware upgrade and the filters they had sent me. If you received this e-mail and I received this call, maybe there is some truth to this?

Creases along the edge of the screen, usually on left+right sides, depending on source material it will appear lighter or darker about a few cm thick. Also when top +bottom are also visible it makes a crease in corner. Imo I think it is monolith design issue, as I have seen it on my tv, but just check hx929 forum you will find lots of info and pictures. Also to the 60" crew figured you guys wouldn't have the issue, it seems like build quality on those is far superior to 46"+55" versions, also on a side note last night I saw a brand new 60nx810 in bb warehouse where I work, transfered from main distribution, so tempting!

I sure didn't. It was quite that day and thought someone might bite. I was wrong.
That crease thingy is some defect in 46 & 55hx929's that would be obvious if you had it, it's not something you have to look for from what I'm reading.

You work at BB?. I think they made fewer 60's last year and the price pt. was much higher. The panel is supposedly better and it's edgelit on all 4 sides.
For 2 times the price it should be better. I haven't seen that creasing. or cloudiong or any of this stuff, and I've looked but gave up long ago.

Yeah I work part time in inventory, pays alright for pt job plus discount and vendor promotions are unbelievable. I also find it is a fun atmosphere to go to, where I dont have to think to much compared to my full time job. Without BB I wouldn't have half of the cool electronic toys I have.

Yes, and "weren't" is the operative term here. I invested it all in sony stock so now I'm living in the gutter, eating macaroni and cheese. If macaroni and cheese packets go up say from 3 for a dollar to 2 for a dollar. I'm in trouble and will have to sell my TV.

As you know already, nothing in life is free. I just appreciate the opportunity to converse with societies well to do, affluent, and tech savvy individuals on this owners thread. Or at least that was what the informational e-learnings from Sony said the buyer segment for this model would be, the jury is out.

I am considering the 55NX720 or 55NX810 and was wondering how the owners feel it does with fast motion like sports? With the NX720 I am concerned that it is a 120hz panel and not a 240hz panel like the NX810. My other choise is the 55NX810 at a good discount which is a 240hz panel with the Bravia Engine 3. I have been told by Sony sales people that the NX720 may have a better picture due to the new X Reality Engine but I am concerned with the 120 hz panel since I will be watching alot of sports.

Sony sales people also recommended the HX729 since it has motion flow 480 and the X Pro Reality engine but does not have the momolithic design which I am told adds contrast and enhances colors and blacks.

Any comments and experience on these isuues would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks.

Did the Sony sales people tell you that the HX729 is really a 240hz panel? Yes, if Sony applied the same sales tactics to the NX810 it would be called a 480hz set as well.
Is X Reality engine better, well they have to say yes.
I prefer the monolith design.
Have you seen the NX810 in a side by side comparison to the NX720/NX820 or HX729? I had a chance to see the HX729 up against the HX909 and the picture looked better on the HX729 but I did not get the chance to adjust the tv's for a true evaluation. Thanks.
