It well could be better, but unless both sets were optimally setup any side by side comparison could be handicapped.

Is this a true statement or just one more of your jokes on 3D???

that ones true. When I called back about the lenses the guy told me sony's prefer some packed format over sbs. Said something about ESPN 3d not working well w/ sonys that have providers that deliver s-b-s as a side note, I think it as b/c I was asking hi about direct tv and sony 3d.

Well I guess that is why my SBS.mvk files suck on this TV (then again maybe all Sony TV's have this issue?)
Thanks for the info and I hope they fix it soon, I have not watched any 3d on this TV in a few months now, 2D is still second to none!

LuV2SPD was it now you that was getting a newer model for the 3d and clouding? Did you get it is it better 3D? Or was it someone else?

I'd start there and then if that don't work then go for the exchange. If you drag it out long enough they might come out with the 60hx929 or whatever that they could offer as another option, or even a 65"er. I'm thinking they're offering the 60nx710 b/c its 60 inches and comes closest to the 810. the 820 is not available in a 60". I would make it clear that MSRP for the 60nx810 is 4999.00 wheres the 710 is in the 3's I think. Just my 3 cents.

Turns out they won't supply the panel to fix the problem. Claim is with the NX810 out of production, the panels don't exist anymore. Turned down the 60NX720 due to price difference and only 120hz display and wanted to ensure pedestal swivels like the one I have.

Was at CES in Jan. and SONY didn't have any 240hz 60" to show. Claimed the 720 model was top of the 60" line for 2011. Doubt an HX is coming.

So a refurb 60NX810 is on the way. Due to higher cost, they didn't want to do that at first. Roll of the dice with a refurb but choices are narrow. Will see.

Yup, that's me alright.
Ofcourse clouding is still there and only after 3D but it's very minimal, almost not visible and no Crosstalk at all.

I didn't want a refurbished either but I have a friend who buys refurbishes electronics only because he says they always triple checked.

that might have been true before 2008. But now, w/skeleton crews and such
I find that when I buy refurbished Dell computers they have a high failure rate. When I buy HP Refurb they're like brand new. Would you buy a refurbed Samsung . I swear their computer monitors used to be good. They were prone to die or be buggy after awhile but bang for buck they were fine. I don't know about electronics but w/computers it's pretty much componantized so their relatively easy to "refurbish". I don't know if the same holds true for electronics. We need the guy from Best Buy to clarify this for us.

I am considering the 55NX810 at a great deal. I am also considering the nx720 but I am concerned with the 120hz panel for ation and sports. The final tv I am looking at is the 55HX729, great specs but not a monolithic design which I like. I woud appreciate feedback and comments. Thanks.

Don't think anyone on this thread has a 720 or 729. This an 810 owners thread. Plenty of info to dig thru here about the 55nx810.

Does anyone have the Sony 3D Experience app on their set?

I have it on my HX729. There are about 15 clips between 1-2 minutes and about 5-6 full length music videos from obscure artists.

unless they offer full episodes or movies in the future i doubt i'll ever click on it again.

We hit a record today..104 I think 108 in Newark and its really !@#! humid. My a/c's been on 24/7 since Monday. I hope it doesns't burn up or run out of freon. Its so hot, my dog is finished in record time like 5 minutes, its usually a 20 minute deal w/ the multiple firehydrants and poles and stuff.

I have the 60NX810 and noticed a couple of days ago my firmware was updated to version PKG5.042AAS. Search on the Internet yields no info on what it actually changes. Anyone have any info?

Usually takes a week or 2 before they let us know what was in it.

I am looking at the 55NX810 at a great price (last years model), the 55nx720 or the 55nx820. I was considering the 55hx729 but I like the monolithic design better. I am not near a sony store so I cannot view these side by side. I can only see the 55nx720 and the 55nx810 in different stores. I have talked to sony many times to get a reading on the different specs that these sets have and what I have found is the differences are small in actual viewing differences. According to sony especially in 3d that people can see differences because of everyone has different preceptions, some real some not.

I am very concerned with the motion flow capability because I watch alot of sports but I have been told that you cannot see the difference between 120hz and 240hz. In regards to the specs the new motion flow XR240 is a 120 hz panel with software that uses backlight blinking to give the effect of 240. The XR480 is a 240 hz panel uses backlight blinking to give the effect of 480 According to Sony you need to keep in mind that the motion effect is a combination of the refresh rate of the panel, the speed of the processing engine and the backlight blinking used. Sony stated the their new X reality processor is faster then their previous Bravia Engine 3 which should create better motion effects for the new models

Like I said I have been unable to see these sets side by side to see if the differences are worth paying extra. I am confronted with a great deal on the 55nx810 vs the 55nx720 (500 more) vs the 55nx820 (600 more) and since I cannot see the side by side it is hard to decide. I am also keeping in mind the 60nx720 but the premium for the 60 inch is around $900 from the 55nx810. I have read the threads but still does not give me the information that I need to make the correct decision. If any one could add any info or experiences I woud appreciate it. Thanks.

Samsclub has the 55NX810 for 1599. Is this worth it compared to the NX720 that is out now? I really like this Monolithic design on these televisions. Im trying to stay around the 1500ish range and I did see the Vizio XVT554SV their as well. I also think the NX720 is at frys on sale this week for $1649.

What do you all think?

I finally set up my KDL55nx810 this weekend (a replacement for my KD55A2000 with failed optical block). Some minor clouding noticed, but I can live with it.

Then, 20 hours later the TV begins cycling off and on randomly. A search of AVS found possible mixed router problem, so I changed the router to "g" only, but cycling off and on is still happening.

Emailed Sony listens today. Has anyone encountered this or know of a fix? could it firemware related? The TV is great otherwise, I really don't want to have to exchange it.

Thanks.
