Run network setup but choose manual entry for IP address info
he told what to enter for IP, subnet, dns etc.

TY!. When you run ipconfig it reports back your pc's adress info. That's what he had you type manually as opposed to letting the TV connect automagically. Cool beans - glad it worked for ya.

Im no IT professional, but wouldn't that create a ip conflict with your computer? And subsequently screw with your home network(phone, blu-ray player/ps3/printer). I thought each entity had to have separate ip addresses to function properly.

No. run->cmd->ipconfig displays your Pc's address, so rather than let the wizard get it he entered it manually. Didn't create a conflict.

My bad, I didn't fully understand. it sounded like they were using the pc ip address for the tv, and they both had the same ip. Must have just used an ip in the range.

. I'm pretty sure that's what they did. The Ipconfig just spits out the name of your server(computer), if you have more than one we use a command called nslookup. I've avoided Windows for 30 years. The environments I work in are all Unix or Linux. Unfortunately, most shops are now using hybrid environments(mixing Unix/Linux servers with Windows clients. So I'm forced to understand some windows. The shops that have Windows only won't hire me ..but that's not a bad thing.
ipconfig (on a Window PC) shows the ip address (and more) of the PC. ipconfig /all shows all the ip stack info for all network adapters on the machine. nslookup simply does a DNS query (and gives you an ip address if you give it a name, or vice-versa).

But he could still get an ip conflict--his DHCP server (his router) doesn't know about the hard-coded ip address assignment of the TV, so it could hand that out to another device. To avoid this, either "exclude" the hard coded ip address from the router's pool of addresses, or hard-code the TV with an address outside the pool range.

So I am debating moving my 55 nx810 from its stand on top of my entertainment console to the wall behind. Anyone have any recommendations on good quality hardware.

Any pitfalls to avoid?

I remember when I initially unpacked my TV that it came with some mounting hardware but I think I have all that somewhere in storage now. If I purchase a Sanus mounting kit (or something similar based on your help) will i still need that original Sony hardware? I know I need to bolt the mount to a stud (or two?) but was wondering if there are placement issues about how close to the wall the TV should rest. Finally, I want to run the cables and wires through my wall and down below to the console where my other components reside. Any issues I should have to worry about doing that?

I can hammer a nail, screw a bolt and operate a drill so I assume I can probably manage this project. But appreciate any and all advice.

Best place to get the materials is in Monoprice. Putting cables behind the wall is not a problem, however, some caution is needed for the power cable connecting the television.
well i am looking at this Sanus mount on Amazon for only $60.

http://www.amazon.com/Sanus-Systems-...pr_product_top

Love monoprice but doubt they can beat this price but will check. Still wondering if I need to hunt down any hardware I may have stored away when I first unboxed my TV. Or does the Sanus or Monoprice mounts have everything you need?

What issues should I worry about regarding the power cable?

My advise to you is not to leave anything impotant in storage.

Water really can suck. Don't store your stuff in a flood zone, and most importantly don't store anything you can't afford to lose

If you goto yelpdotcom search for extra space mahwah, or google reviews for the same you will see about 22 photos I uploaded.

I am Glad you asked.. .. I live in an area that doesn't see Hurricanes, or tropical storms or what have you. I had a 5x10 storage space on the first floor. SSomone mentioned storage.. so here goes..
When Hurricane Irene hit. That area saw water like they never saw before.
If you look at the picture you can see the water level is about 4-5 feet high.
Make a long story short..Everyones stuff got ruined. I got a way lucky in that most of the stuff I threw out propably should have been in the garbage long ago. But I did lose all my record albums(I bought them in canada when I lived in BUffalo, b/c you guys get the imports from England and the exchange rate was 30%). A really nice dining room table and a pair of Accoustat speakers. Text books, computer manuals, some stuff I was saving for no good reason. Others lost a lot more. One guy brought all his good stuff thinking it would be safer in storage than his house. He lost high end recievers, digital camers, Ipads, cellphones, blackberrys, and about 50k in limited edition signed art prints he collected over the years. Hence, teh moral of the story is shice happens. Read your contracts and don't store expensive stuff in self storage. Those contracts are written so the onus is on the tenant.
Insurance won't cover you for floods such as this. BTW - I really logged in to explain the network conundrums and why some people experience issues w/ routers and cards. If anyones interested I'll explain, if not look at the hurricane pics.

I believe that Sams Club online had the glasses

Darn, and here I am bidding for a new 55.

Just talked to Sony support - this sound has been annoying me for awhile - everything else is great about the TV. Anyway, you can disable it from the menu for the TV speaker alone, but not external sound sources like a soundbar hooked up to the AV inputs. I told tech support that its also needed for external sources because many people will use a soundbar with this TV due to its weak audio. Please support me in this request and call up Sony support, asking for this sound to be turned off for external audio also.

Thanks

I see no need for this thread to end. I have seen a few NX810's popping up at Club stores. Some may be sold by owners and we may all have issues from time to time or just want someplace to vent or share experiences. I have found this thread a great source of information and even entertaining.
Around christmas i will be either buying one of the callibration tools or having my NX pro callibrated just for giggles, even though i like my settings i cant get yellows just right regardless of what i do. I will be sharing that info freely both here and the settings thread once completed for us 46er's

There's threads for TVs that have been out of production for 2-3 years that still have people posting in them. Why would anyone think this is the end?

Just kidding. Wanted to see if Beinstein was still alive and who all is around.
Any 3d firmware updates I should know about? I see closeouts on the sony active glasses, I think they were 40 bucks on sonystyle. I'd like to try some other brand. Still not a lot of content out there.

I've been using this stuff called screen kleen (to clean the screen) and it really works well. It came w/ the hdmi cables I got at Costco but its probably like that monster stuff. Anyway, it really leaves the screen clean. I tried the stuff on a PC monitor that was really messed up by alcohol swipes and whatever to the point were it as unusable worked n that too.

Well, I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of my 55. I figured the Sams Club auctions I would have spent over 16 with tax and shipping so I just got one of 5 off ebay. wanted the 60 but still over 4K for the few left out there. So hubby will now have the current non NX 55 for his shop and this one will go in the 'play' room.
really like the 46 I currently have.

keep us informed on how you like it after you get it set up to your liking. The 55's seem to have more mention here than the 60's or 46".

sbx007, thank you for the link. I will find myself on the south shore this weekend and just may swing into the Sony Outlet for giggles..last time i did that i brought home my 46NX810, hmmmm..i do need a new camera..and a new laptop

Hi there...I'm going to be doing a move to another city. I was wondering if it's possible to order the original packaging from Sony or somewhere else for my Bravia 60NX810 since I no longer have it unfortunately? I see that Uhaul has big screen packing boxes for a 60" tv at about $110.

Apparently, moving companies are hesitant to move Plasma or LED tv's because they can break easily (at least that's what I've been told so far). I think we'll be doing a pre-move move with our delicate electronics so I just wanted to see what my options were. Also, I know that your supposed to transport the tv vertically, but other than that, are there any other major things I should watch out for?

Thanks in advance for any input!

I think that would be a good question to call Sony with. For future reference its a good idea to hang on to those box's for just such an occation or until at least any warranty period has expired.

If you have a Sony Outlet store near by they may have packaging they might sell you.
