The Hsu VTF-2 Mark 3 plays to 18 Hz. I believe the eD A2-300 does also.

Could the PA-150 be 6-9 db louder than the PA-120?

I just ordered a PA-150 from Accousticsounddesign.com for 340 shipped.

I'm starting to wonder if I made a mistake by not going with something better known like the PL-200 for less $$ or the HSU STF-2 for the same $$ ???

I kind of wanted to go with the PA-150. I don't think it'd fit in my room. Please share how it is though I think it'd destroy my whole frat house if I did.

Not sure how it campares but those who have purchased it seem to be very happy with it. It is also $100 cheaper than the A2-300

Hey thank you kesando ! I just joined and posted in the thread, it looks like a good forum.

I called this morning and talked with Mike where I bought it. He assured me I would be very happy with the sub or I could return it. Shipping would suck for an 85# sub but at least it's an option. 15", real amp as opposed to the power being generated through a circuit board like the BIC's. He said he would sell me another sub but assured me the Premier accoustic was a quality piece and blew the PL-200 away.

I should get it Friday or Monday.

Just curious if you have received the sub and your thoughts on it. I've got $ to spend and the PL-200 won't be available until sometime mid April. PA-150 is very tempting for the price.

Me too... Pending order on PL-200s. What do you think of the 15?

I just checked through Aahhyes68 posts and it looks like his was defective; meaning the RCA input jack broke off.

Now it looks like he's waiting on a PL-200.

Hopefully he'll chime back in and let us know what's up.

For what it's worth, I was one of many who were bumped w/ the PL-200 delay, and instead opted for the PA-150 for a significantly reduced price. My needs aren't that grand and for the price it's enough for me.

Due to the state of my current family room project, I only have the ability for a quick 'does it work' test w/ an iPod. In my 13'x17'x16' vaulted family room that opens into a good-sized kitchen, max on the iPod and Volume at 3 on the sub produced an aggravated wife covering her ears and complaining vigorously.

Now, I'm looking for quality ahead of quantity, but feel this is at least a good first step.

Take it for what it's worth, just know any bit of info can help one way or the other.

Overall pretty nice. Sides are black wood grain, and the top is glossy. And needless to say this thing is rather huge.

I was looking at the PA-150 as I was another waiting for the PL-200 but thought I would stick it out and wait since I have the PL-200 and want to add another in the back. Good lord is that thing huge or what!! If the amp ever goes out in the future ( knock on wood it doesnt ) you could convert that into a fridge! J/K... I really like the 120s. I started with one and then expanded to 2 to help fill my large open floor plan 6300+ cubic feet. They are good subs at a good price. Then I got a superb deal on an eD a5-350. I am still holding onto the 120s to use in my upstairs TV room when I finish the basement.

ive been in needing a change mode and was going to do the diy gr research servo subs. i came across the premier acoustic pa-150 and decided to give it a try just bought it today and waiting for it to be shipped. i have a long history in the retail management side of high end audo. i just sold my paradigm reference 15 sub to fund the gr project. curiosity got the best of me and i have to try the pa product. a new company trying to build a reputation has very affordable products and once they reach a good reputation the prices follow. paradigm had a humble start and now look at there high end products. svs,hsu,bryston....etc all very modest beginings. im looking for that next little fish that will become a whale. if this sub is what i think it is im going for #2. it will compliment my paradigm reference system and who knows that may go to and ill give the whole line a try.

Am building a pretty big media area in my basement and already have an eD A2-300 but decided to pull the trigger on the PA-150 to add to the mix (can't beat the price). It will be many months before the room is done (I am doing most of the work myself), but I will hook up the PA-150 and the A2-300 in my living room (my wife is going to kill me) to do some basic tests and comparisons using some test tones and an SPL meter, as well as compare several scenes with high LFE and how these subs stack up. That said the room these tests will be done in is not ideal. There are no accoustical treatments, there is carpeting, and the livingroom is large and open to several other large rooms (over 7000 cubic ft including the other rooms).

My family room / home theater is nearing the finish line, but I'm still a few weeks away from putting my PA-150 to use.

Please post results as soon as you can, really looking forward to see how it compares.

The PA-150 arrived today and it is a beast, Not quite as large as my eD A2-300 (taller but not quite as long or wide), but it feels just as heavy (possibly heavier). Hooked it up in it's temporary place in the living room (will ultimately end up in the media room in our basement that I am finishing now). Sub was very well packed, and I am very impressed by the fit and finish (definitely superior to the A2-300).

With a long day of work and the kids in bed by 8pm (bedrooms just above the living room where the PA-150 is hooked up) I was only able to play about 30 mins or so of Kung Fu Panda on Blu-Ray (man I can't wait for my media room in the basement to be finished!) Pretty impressive sub. It is in a poorly treated room right now but the PA-150 still sounded impressive. Off the top of my head the A2-300 seemed to extend lower, but the PA-150 seems to pack more mid-bass. I think the two will compliment each other well in a treated room. Over the next few weeks I plan on bringing the A2-300 out of storage so I can do some head to head battles. Very impressed so far for what you get for the money. One lucky person just paid $310 shipped for one of these on Ebay, so I think $310-340 is a very realistic price for this sub. I would say it might be a slight step below the A2-300 but not by much.

These are all 425 dollars now on Ebay. So in your opinion is this better than buying the PL-200? How does this compare because the PL-200 is probably what I think I'll buy.

You need to make an offer. I can tell you I paid much less than $425 and one sold recently for $310 on Ebay.

How large is your room? I have not heard the PL-200, but I have heard the BIC F-12 and I can tell you that that the PA-150 is in another league (although I have not tested them in the same room back to back). I have not measured it yet against my eD A2-300 but so far I am impressed. If you can score one of these for $310-350 I would sat it is probably worth stepping up into. It is alot of sub for the money. For $425 I would just get an A2-300 or a HSU sub. The mid-bass on the PA-150 is very impressive. Extension is good, but I need to measure to see how good it is below 25hz. I don't think it can extend as low as the A2-300, but it can definitely hang most of the way.

My current room is very small but when I move out from college I wanna be able to use the sub no matter where I live. I figured that going bigger would be better. I'm no real audiophile I just like it loud and deep. It's a 12 by 12 room (ft) right now but I move out in a year or two so I don't want something that may be underpowered. It was this, this PA-120 or the BIC PL-200(which I decided on) but since I got a little more cash and I like things big I considered thing.

Well the thing that has impressed me about the PA-150 is that it is big and can play loud, but the bass seems to be very tight and accurate. Not that muddy. And in a smaller room you can always tone it down.

Ricci is going to be doing a test on both the BIC PL-200 and the PA-150, so it will be interesting to see his independent results. If you could have held out to buying until he reviews them (I expect it to be this month) it might be worth it.

Where does Ricci usually posts his tests? Would really enjoy a comparison and review as you described.

He has been trying to test the subs, but the weather has not been very forgiving where he lives I believe it will be sometime this month.

i bought 2 of these and got them for 310 shipped each. i sold my paradigm sub to get these and im impressed they will rock the house. just one is enough but the whole reason i sold the paradigm was to fund the new sub project for which i wanted 2 of something. im completely impressed with the tight punchy bass from the pa-150 i ordered one just to try and and ordered the next 1hr after listening to the sub. i wasnt expecting much but when it arrived i couldnt believe my ears of what this thing could do nor my eyes could believe what a beautiful sub this is fit and finish is way above average. my mains are paradigm reference studio100v2 with 550 watts of hafler power on each speaker the subs will drown them out if i let them. im a huge fan of this brand i dont know how they can sell this good of a product on the cheap. i managed a store for many years whicn sold products like rotel,conrad johnson,krell,levinson,paradigm reference,b&w,.....etc. im still in good with the store and only pay 5% over cost. i still would choose this sub over anything at 2 to 3 times the price retail. bass extension is its only lacking in being a reference sub not detail. but your not going to get that 12hz note from any sub in this price range. the bass extension is on par with my paradigm ps-1200v4 and volume is on the level of my paradigm reference-15 that i sold to fund the project. i dont miss the servo all that much the sound quality isnt that big of a difference and ive played it hard. im a premier acoustic junkie now and am going to try the pa-8f speakers soon. i dont expect them to beat my studio100s but i also never expected the sub to be such a solid performer either
