Klipsch Sub 12 or Polk PSW 505 or Other?

Hi, guys I have always liked roaming these forums for information and this is my first post Now I was hoping you guys could help me. I recently ordered a Klipsch Sub 12 used for $220. Now I just found out that I can sell it for about $300 used on Ebay. Now I was wondering if their was anything better that I could buy for $300? I mostly want the subwoofer for listening to music like Rap, R&B, and Hip-Hop. My room is about 12x15 and I am looking for ridiculous amount of bass I would appreciate if you guys could recommend any other subs to me within the price range of $300? or should I keep my Klipsch Sub 12. Thanks in advance!

I would say stick with the Klipsch. For $300 I doubt you will get comparable performance from something new. Of course, used there may be bargains, but those are so "YMMV" that I wouldn't want to start to hypothesize.

What you might want to do is see whether the Kilpsch is "good enough" for your expectations. If it isn't, you should consider flipping it (as you suggest you might be able to do) and save up a bit more and get something in the $500 to $600 range.

A "ridiculous" amount of bass (he's gone to plaid!) in that size room might mean you have to step to an Epik Empire or a similar elemental Designs model like the A7S-450 in the $800-$1000 range.

Bonus Points for guessing the movie reference. No fair Googling.

Thanks for your input. I was doing some research and apparently the Klipsch Sub 12s amp is prone to blowing and that is why it has been discontinued, now I am scared lol . Would me switching to the Polk psw 505 be a huge step down? Hmmm and how much would a 300w plate amp cost if the klipsch does blow?... maybe I'm thinking too far into it now lol.

Check out lava subwoofers. Getting good reviews around here and Avs members get another discount which puts it under $300 for their 12".

IMO, the BIC (Acoustech) PL-200 blows away any of the under-$300 subs mentioned so far in this thread -- it has huge booms for the money. It can be had for $270, brand new.

HSU Research helped with the design and it has a beautiful BASH amp.

You may also want to check out the sealed Emotiva Ultra 10 or 12 since your focus is music rather than movies...

I'll agree with the idea of the Empire or the eD for ridiculous amounts of bass in that space. That being said, if he wants to go to plaid - he's going to need to find something capable of delivering ludicrous bass.

Yes! We have a winner! Glad someone got the reference, even if it was a bit oblique.

Never mind! I just got the Klipsch Sub 12 and I think that it already is overkill for my room lol. When I play 20 Hz test tones the foundation of my room vibrates!

Pick up a SubDude to separate it from your floor.
