As per another thread, I recently replaced the nVidia video card on my system with an ATI card. One of the issues I dealt with was overscan settings not coming back property after either a reboot or sleep. ATI's driver 10.9a fixed that, but . . .
I don't know if this is something I hadn't noticed before, or if the ATI card starts displaying earlier, etc., but when my machine now comes back from hybrid sleep, it starts at the bios, does a quick black screen progress bar like when you're coming out of hibernation, and then appears at the desktop fully booted. I'm not sure how much, if any, of the process is the system stored in memory, as opposed to on disc. Before it seemed more like it simply turned back on with the desktop suddenly appearing.
Is what I'm seeing now something that is normal?
