An interesting essay, especially the part of invulnerabilty vs. vulnerability. I think Superman is basically boring, and the movies finding a way to harm a man who cannot be harmed (except by Kryptonite?) is an exercise in futility. There's just no meaningful conflict.
And what I have seen from the previews has everything looking dingy and cheap. Really the Donner/Lester films were the only things since the Fleischer cartoons to capture the wonder of the best of the comic books, and they both had serious problems.
I'm weary of all the comic book adaptations, particularly the ones they are making now in order to not lose the rights to make more, but since people that like that sort of thing are the main people going to theaters these days, there is no escape for everybody else.

He can fly, bullets bounce off of him and he's super strong. Yeah, not getting what's "boring" about that.
