Ok. first i'd love to know who in Canada is a dealer for them. there is NO information on their web site. second, i'd love to get some more information on these beauties...anyone have them? any thoughts?

I'm considering these for 2 channel music. TIA

Audiophonie is a dealer in Montreal. They have (had?) a sale on the last V2 units. You can check them out at audiophonie (dot) ca
À Temps Perdu is another dealer who has a demo pair. Some pop up on Audiogon from time to time, and Audio Revelation in Carlsbad Calif. has at least a pair. In addition, there are 2 dealers around Toronto, but I don't know if they stock. Great speaker, great bass. Hope this helps.

Thoughts? I'll share my thoughts even though I'm a very shy guy. Why oh why are you considering speakers from this company that
  • virtually has no distribution
  • a website that says coming April 30, 2010 and nothing's there
  • a website that literally just has a face with nothing else
  • seems to be selling speakers that no one knows anything about by people no one knows anything about.

Why? A while back when I was looking into other matters, I was doing searches on suppliers pertaining for that other matter. Well one of the suppliers, CrealM (actually a HK middleman outfit) I believe it was, supplied speaker boxes (don't recall if that also meant drivers) to Gemme up in Canada. That got me curious especially since Gemme claimed their speakers were made in Canada. So, I got this feeling that Gemme is nothing more than a couple of guys buying stuff from overseas and sticking that nice looking Gemme logo on the front without any real knowledge of anything.

Now, you look at their website and it's got a purty picture of a speaker with a ribbon tweeter. A ribbon tweeter! Why those are all the rage now. But there are good ribbons and crappy ribbons and the Chinese are now knocking those off like a bunny rabbit on Viagra for not too much.

Being in Canada kind of sucks when it comes to buying audio equipment. All those fees and jacked prices. I'm sure you can find something like a Salk who'd build for you and you could pick up the speakers over the border at maybe a FedEx place or something.

Fortunately for you, I am bored. They may import some cabinets, who knows? Just Google for more, tons of stuff about these guys.

Here you go, PE.

I just bought a pair of Gemme Katana's and they're excellent. I've had a few other great speakers: Martin Logan Summit, Reference 3a La Suprema, Martin Logan CLS, and various others (Klipsh La Scala, Rega's, ...) etc.. and these are the most enjoyable speakers I've ever had.

Amplification is Musical Fidelity Trivsita (was a Stereophile Class A integrated amp sold a few years ago).

There is a pair of these Gemme Katnana's being sold in Waterloo for a seriously cheap 4700 bucks. Check Canuckaudiomart right now. I paid about 1000 more for mine, which is still a super steal I think.

I also bought an Ayre QB-9 Dac and am also really pleased with it (even comparing it to my Metric Halo ULN-8 and other similar DAC's).
