I have been having the worst stuttering issues and horribly slow performance on my htpc even after a fresh install of windows on an SSD. I noticed a few weeks ago the top of the case was blistering hot which was weird because I specifically remember when I first built it how cool it was to the touch on top. In fact even the exhaust air was cool but now its just scorching. there is no room for much of fans but I managed to put 2 tiny fans in it but then tonight on a whim I touched the top and sure enough its blistering hot. Speedfan was showing the last time temps like 60s and maybe 70ish which of course is too hot but these very same drives have always been in this system which is why I ask can they get hot as they go bad? Because if you touch them with your fingers it hurts. I am just going to remove them and use a different drive but I thought I would just check. and seriously heat is the weirdest issue to try and troubleshoot because like dirt on a cpu fan it just causes the whole system to behave funny but its hard to put your finger on it.
