Frasia, if i had a 2:35 screen, how hard is it for the 9700 to go from standard 16:9 to 2.35:1? What steps must be taken?

Since I don't see a 9700UB owners thread, this post will have to subscribe me to the next best thing

Got the 9700 up and running today, prepping the 7500 for sale.
I am most impressed with the improvements in frame interpolation so far. They finally got it right! I also can't hear the iris like I could on past units.

Projectors always look great with the fresh bulb, so I will hold off on "wow this picture is (insert awesomeness here)" for later.

Overall though, very pleased for first night out of the box.

That seems like a lot of light leakage from the exhaust vent. Does it shine on the screen, or on the side wall?

No it doesnt, actually with lights out is looks perfectly black at the exhaust

Just picked up my 9700...can't wait to try it out.

I will be ceiling mounting it.
I just tried it out and WOW!!!...looks great.

So I was play with the Frame Interpolation setting and when it's on high....I hate it. It makes the picture look like a live show or something. This is the same image I see on the LCD's and LED TV's. So I set it on off, and I feel it looks more like a movie.

I'll definitely pick up a cleaning kit.

But, so far, it's amazing.

could I ask what is 4x4 pull down? What does it do for me?

I had an opportunity to demo this unit today at my local dealer. He just put it up about two days ago, so it has had zero calibration done to it. I was very impressed with the performance of it. The last projector I had was a Panasonic AE900 back in 2007 and haven't used one since due to several moves. Now we are looking to add a projector and screen to our existing living room setup, which consists of a 60" Pioneer Elite. My selling point to my wife is the projector will help save the life of the Plasma because we will use it less for movie watching...

The only issue I have right now is trying to decide if it is worth the extra 1K and 1.5K over the 8700 and 8350. I need to have somebody install it and they did a good job with my speaker install back in April. Everybody else in town wants to sell me Runco or high end JVC units, so at least they have access to Epson. He told me that he can get those other units, but I haven't seen a price on them yet. So who knows how much higher they will be...

The 8700UB really looks like a great deal, but I haven't seen one yet. Best Buy and HH Gregg only sell the 8350 which would be good for financing reasons. I can get 36 months no interest on an 8350 from Best Buy.

I was wondering if anybody else has compared the three units yet??

Frogers - I would really like to hear your assessment of the 9700 compared to your Infocus. I have an Infocus as well and am contemplating upgrading or waiting it out for a year or 2. (I need to replace my bulb or upgrade the projector).

Where would that be?

So, would you say the 8700 would be just fine for me?

I might be leaning towards the 8700UB but I have had a couple of people email me and suggested the JVC HD250. Any idea how this compares to the Epson units?
