I don't recall anyone mentioning missing features. Nor have I seen folks getting "mad" about any of this.

Some people merely prefer one UI over the other. For their own reasons.

And the fact is that it's rather bizarre that this application is presenting different layouts to different users. It's not exactly a common situation.

Just something doesn't seem to be right. I'm using slims and all other media is properly decoded by the receiver or sent decoded properly from the ps3. Don't know why I can't get 5.1 from my Netflix. ???

Exactly. I'm not mad; I'm just confused. It's weird that a public nationwide rollout like this would have seemingly so many disparate versions (some with additional user features).

I would like some answers, I am not DEMANDING answers or threatening to cancel my netflix subscription or anything. And what a better place to talk about that than this thread?

That's my take. We got a nice video that showed what it would look like and then there's several versions given out randomly. When asked about it by the media, netflix just doesn't answer at all.

I'm not mad, not going ot leave the service, just would like a little more openness on the process and what is going on.

But apparently we are all whiny, self serving horrible consumers for dare questioning anything.

Oh and for those that can't stream right now, apparently netflix's site is down too, accoring to hackingnetflix.com

I'm betting Netflix will issue just the type of response/explanation that we're all hoping for.

Consider it from their perspective. Companies with this many millions of customers receive complaints and bug reports ever day. Many, perhaps even most, turn out to be user error or confusion. Thus, prior to even acknowledging that a problem exists or that they are investigating the problem, they'll want to make damn sure that the problem is real. They may even be waiting to respond until a time-line for the fix can be accurately provided.

If the issue were more critical than the layout of a video browser, then they'd likely be more motivated to respond immediately. My guess is that they'll respond within a week or two of the original roll-out date.

Is anyone else having issues with their netflix over the last few hours or so? I have been using it all this week and when I went to try it over lunch it first asked me for my email and password (for netflix) and then I kept getting error messages (cannot login, try again later) and only gave me a try again selection.

A good note.. I watched "Gamer" last night and was extremely impressed with the pq. I have 10 meg internet connected directly to my ps3. I had a hard time telling the difference between this and a bluray. I do have a 37" 720p plasma that accepts 1080p signals.

Anyway, me thinks in a week's time you'll all have your answers and this topic will likely be a non-issue. They just released the update a couple days ago. It's not suprising that they aren't issuing full press releases to let everyone know, hour-by-hour what their actions are. Most likely they are using their time to try and fix the outages that some people are seeing. I would assume that takes priority over responding to the forum banter quesitoning about thier search screens.

For someone who just admitted they do not even use the PS3 Netflix service.. you sure are doing a great job to belittle those that have real questions about it.

This is the same interface I have here in Canada on my PS3 except the instant queue is missing. I called in about but the phone staff were unable to do anything other than confirm I had no instant queue.

I have a fast windows 7 PC with a high end graphics card etc and the PQ pales compared to the PS3. The speed of the PS3 once connected to Netflix is about 2 seconds to load a movie and another ten seconds for it to buffer to HD. It is faster than before.

Mine will not connect. Just downloaded today.

Same here! Slim, and 3808ci denon! 5.1 both ways PCM or bitstream receiver shows dd ex! I can't see video resolution or bit rate

I agree, it is a bit weird, and this idea that it's some sort of marketing test isn't holding a lot of water for me.

Eureka! I figured out why netflix was outputting silence when attempting to play 5.1 sound.

It turns out that if either Dolby digital or DTS is enabled as a sound output option, the netflix app outputs silence. Unchecking those two sound output options fixed the problem.

Now my denon indicates "multi ch in" and successfully outputs the 5.1 sound.

This is still truly baffling because I use those output options all he time from the ps3 to my amp. Apparently netflix needs a bit more time to work out the bugs with dd+ sound.

hmm! in my case those were all checked and ps3 wont let me uncheck, and 3808 was still doing 5.1 showing dolby ex, i dont see DD plus though.

You must have something else selected on your PS3, because with my fat PS3 thru HDMI, I have all the outputs selected and I get DD 5.1 +plx2 as I have 7.1 and use the rears. I have not been able to get DD+, but then I believe no one is. You should not be seeing multichannel out unless you are now decoding DD to PCM since you deselected it. I only see multichannel out with lossless tracks converted to PCM from my PS3 fat to my Denon 4308 or if I select Multichannel out on my Denon.

How come in my scenario, my receiver says DD EX, both ways whether I select PCM or BIT Stream? and I have a slim, and 3808? and ofcourse it is giving me 7.1 out matrix per my setting.

What is diff in urs and my settings/selection on the receiver though?

Looks like they added a 7.99 streaming only option and pushed the Streaming + Unlimited DVDs by mail to 9.99.

Hmm how will effect the current subscribers?I pay $10.99 inclusive bluray. Btw if u have no bluray, can u still stream HD?

How do I tell what I'm streaming is HD?

I can't tell since my PS3 is sending a 1080p single but the Roast of Bob Saget I'm watching now is SD...Big black bars on the side.

I guess I'll try streaming with my Panny plasma to see if it'll tell me what is incoming.

I called about the ui and the rep I talked to said he had no idea about the different interfaces. He also seems to have gotten the crap one and said that he had no idea that there where ones with different features. I think others should definitely call.

I would imagine every single call will be a different experience.

The guy I spoke to knew about the different interfaces, said they were wondering what customers would do once they found out there were different ones, agreed we should have a menu option to choose, and get this--tried to tell me there was no "5.1" audio (I argued until he believed me)! Haha!

But anyways he was very nice and we ended up talking for 20 or 30 minutes about it, and he made sure my thoughts were passed on to the appropriate people.
