I just hope that the actions of others does not jeopardize Scuba releasing demo disc 3.

Agreed on all counts.

I, too, already owned most of the discs that comprise this collection... most came from discs that were in the reference (or nearly so) tiers on AVS reviews, after all, which is where many of my disc-related purchases are made. They make great demo material as-is, but when you want to show off certain aspects of your system, fast forwarding to specific scenes (not to mention locating them quickly!) and swapping discs for multiple movies (again, I fume at the CE industry for not making a BR changer! although given load times for BRs, that would help less in this scenario) is highly inconvenient compared to popping in Steve's demo disc.

But after going over the disc and enjoying some of the "teasers", as you say, I've gone and added in most of the ones that I was missing.

And I know for a fact that after seeing demo clips on my system, some of my friends have gone out and added some movies to their collections, too!

This disc SELLS blu rays, convincing people to buy more. There is no doubt. I truly hope there is a Vol 3 to follow!

There is a Bluray changer. I own it! It's the Sony BDP-CX960 400 BD disc model and I love it. They also make the ES model which has higher end features and control options. Worth checking out if you want your physical media all in one place. I love mine.

Correction, there was two models of Sony Blu-ray changers available in the past.

Both of those Sony Blu-ray megachangers that you mentioned, have been discontinued and are getting hard to find now. And there are no replacement models planned to take their place. So if anyone wants either one of the discontinued Sony modes, they are going to need to do some digging around to find one.

True. I should have been more clear: I want a carousel changer, not a mega changer. Those are just too big, and too much of a PITA to me. I like to keep one or two discs at the ready, and then still have room to put both discs of a BR in (main disc, special features) or multi discs for a series. I don't need to stay seated for 400 discs worth of material... but sometimes it's nice to stay seated through two discs.

I had many carousel DVD changers over the years, and found them to be the perfect compromise, but no one has bothered to make a BR-capable one.

Not sure I ever said thanks to scubasteve or not, so: "thanks, buddy."

I also wanted to take this moment to say that the gatling gun scene in "Book of Eli" is full on badass.

Could not agree more. Had never seen Book of Eli before experiencing this demo, and that blew my mind so thoroughly I HAD to buy it. Already owned most of the rest, but did buy a couple of others too.

Watched Eagles Farewell Tour 1 live from Melbourne on HD-DVD. I still remember the first time that I heard Hell Freezes Over on DVD in DTS 5.1. It was the most pristine audio I had heard in a concert DVD. Been an Eagles fan since I was a kid and was lucky enough to have been to this same concert when they toured Sydney a few years back. If you enjoy quality musicianship, fantastic harmonies, charismatic performances (even Joe Walsh had a certain pickled charm about him) then you will love this disc. Like their earlier DVD, audio is dynamic and clear as a bell. Picture quality is equally impressive. Have owned this disc for a couple of years and it's still one of my go-to discs for musical reproduction and demo. Being an Eagles fan, there's nothing not to love here. Easily a 10 from me. If you are yet to experience these guys live this HD DVD is the next best thing to being there. Enjoy!

@dingaling2004
+1, I agree totally with your assesment of this disc. I too own it and wonder why the studio hasn't released it on Blu-ray.

Fortunately, I own a dual format DVD drive in my pc, so I could easily convert it to BD, for playing on my stand alone player.

Me, too. I have it ripped to my HTPC. Great stuff.
Though my personal favorite is "Hole in the World."

I love this disc. Thank you SS! This is the only thing I can really say would make the demo better. I would like to be able to skip clips during a "Play All" sequence.

Thanks again,

Quick question ...

Is there any clips in this disc which have true 7.1 audio? Or are they all 5.1?

Thanks!!
@mickey, there're are a few that are 6.1, but no 7.1. Otherwise all the rest are 5.1

"true" as in true-hd or true as in just 7.1?

If memory servers me correctly, I believe there were some 7.1 DTS-HD tracks. DTS-HD is featured much more often than True-HD and as such, of the limited 7.1 tracks out there in existence between the both, DTS-HD is probably going to have more.

I just went to check the list, there is one 7.1 track.

It must be version 1 that had more 7.1 content, skewing my memory.

Still, there's not a lot of 7.1 content out there.

Hi Scuba,

First of all - Excellent Disc!! Absolutely awesome. This disc is going to be my staple demo disc for my setup. Thanks a ton.

Secondly, I meant true 8 channel audio - not Dolby TrueHD. And yes, you're correct - there's far more DTS-HD 7.1 out there then Dolby TrueHD.

That said - which track on your disc turned out to contain 7.1?

Thanks - Appreciate it.

Pretty much all new(er) Disney movies are 7.1, and there are some that are Dolby TrueHD 7.1

Was there a reason for the original First post to be deleted? Which had all the details about the disc & all. I just noticed it. Just curious. Thanks.

I'm guessing it has to do with what scubasteve said in post #1160.

I must have overlooked that post; thanks for pointing me to it. I'm assuming the same as you at this point.

Does anyone have a list of the mpls/mts files and which clip they correspond to? I had a list for version 1 and am looking to get one for version 2. Thanks for any pointers.
This is the post with the list for version 1.
EDIT:
Ah, found one posted earlier in the thread.
