I'll edit the post on Pg43 to reflect the change.

Enjoy that ability while you can, as soon as the new AVS site goes live, you won't be able to edit old posts anymore.

I just ordered and it said it would ship tomorrow. Must be geographic since they now use the local depots for prime. Thanks for the heads up!

They shipped mine today. Pleasant surprise.

That's going to be a real big problem for people doing build threads and the like, as they won't be able to edit their early posts to make it easy to find key details.

I pay @$5 per 50GB disc from an eBay source (that includes shipping).

I guarantee you they aren't the same quality as Verbatim discs.

That would be a bet you would lose. These are not 'no-name'. I'm at work so I can't remember if they're Verbatim (I think they are).
I've bought @100 of them over the past few years.

Ok - the discs I've purchased are TDK's.
Here's one - 10 discs - ALWAYS get the EMS shipping = $4.80 per disc
http://www.ebay.com/itm/290510385458...84.m1438.l2649

if you buy 20 discs it gets cheaper. I've bought from this seller and another a number of times.

If you buy a bigger pack of course they are cheaper per unit. For someone who wants to buy a couple for projects like this demo disc, the $16.99 for a 3-pack at $5.66 per disc was pretty good. I'd also say that Verbatim's are better quality than TDK, but TDK's aren't crap either.

Just wanting to make sure I have the right torrent. Is the torrent made up of a bunch of .rar files?
Excited to check out this disc!
Thanks!
Well I realized that was the wrong file. But found the new file and it downloaded in about 9 hours! I'm continuing to seed at 5mbps for anyone who needs it....

Also on IPV6 for anyone downloading with an IPV6 address...

Hey guys. For some unknown reason I found my demo disc missing on my media server. I tried to restart the torrent but it doesn't look very healthy. Tried the download link posted a few pages back. But there I get a German error that I think says I reached the limit, required premium version. Dont' want to signup for a DL site if I dont' have to, particularly one that is not in my language.

Anyone know a place I can DL a copy?

Thanks,
Scott

Unfortunately I'm not at home to check and confirm, but I'm pretty sure I saw someone had posted this on usenet if you have access to that. It's worth it getting set up for usenet, even temporarily, to get this considering its size and its excellent quality.

Hi everyone. I downloaded the torrent, and it didn't take more than a couple days, everything seem perfect. I don't have a BR player, but read on this thread that VLC could play it. However, I just tried it, and it doesn't really work as intended, I think. Instead of openng like a real blu-ray with menus and such, it simply opens a video playlist. First plays a video of the movie "Legends of....", after it plays another, and so on.

Could someone who tried to play it on the PC shed some light about this, please?
I'm probably doing something wrong, but not sure what.

Thaks. I didn't see it in any of the usenet search engines. If you see it let me know. I haven't used usenet in a while. Don't mind signing up for a little while if it's there.

Silva: The torrent I have is set to take 2 weeks. Thankfully it has one seeder who seemes to be leaving it up (but it's slow going). Can you send me the link to the torrent you used?
I will restart seeding, I had to stop due to a lack of room on my HDD, but now I have a larger one.

EDIT: It is loaded and my torrent program is checking the files.
EDIT EDIT: Seeding again, there are four seeders and no downloaders.

Sure. I can send you the file I used. Send me your mail through PM, and I'll send it.

In the meantime, if someone knows how to play the disk on the PC, please say how to do it.

There is only one torrent.
Due to many settings (like port forwarding) on your router or even your ISP you may not see all of the seeders.

VLC will play the clips but (to the best of my knowledge) it won't actually launch a bluray in "full disc mode" meaning it won't load via the menus as a stand alone player. You can get dedicated bluray playback software (powerDVD, Arcsoft TMT, ect) that will playback the full disc instead of just the individual clips.

I am not sure if it's possible to load properly in VLC since it's not really meant as a dvd/bluray player with menu support. I have used both PowerDVD and Arcsoft Totalmedia Theatre software, and both work well but my preference is Arcsoft. I am actually not sure if powerdvd can load a blu-ray from a folder contents instead of a disc but Arcsoft can (that's how I use this demo disk).

As an aside, If you do a lot of recorded movie/tv watching on your pc or use it as an HTPC, I would recommend looking into a software called XBMC for a very nice interface for this purpose. If you do it with a remote control from your couch, I personally prefer Media Browser for that scenario though since it can be launched/exited from Windows Media Center (which can itself be opened/closed/sleep your pc from a remote).

Assuming you're using Windows, you can burn the folder to an .iso using, e.g., ImgBurn, which you can then mount using, e.g., Virtual CloneDrive. As far as any piece of software is concerned, that will make it appear as if you've put a physical disc in an actual BR drive. Incidentally, ImgBurn will automagically recognize that you're trying to burn something with BR structure and offer to set the various .iso options to match this.

I have the correct torrent now (there is another one BTW, albeit not very helathy, perhaps rouge). Anyway, the correct one has 6 seeds on it now and it's moving much better. Thank you.
don't use the data that you downloaded from the first torrent, and try to continue the download using those files. The original torrent was missing some blank folders and stuff so it was recreated containing all the necessary empty folders and 0kb files for a blu-ray to work. make sure you started a fresh empty folder download with the new torrent.

Where did you get the torrent? Here is the one I have:

I am one of the initial seeders, so I have all the rar files and the torrent file from when the disc was first pushed out via torrent. Has it changed?

There are TWO scubasteve's discs. The first one was released in a compressed form (RARed files) while V.2, the second disc and this thread, was released as a BDMV file folder structure.

The links (both still active) to both disc are posted several times through out this thread. Maybe someone that has them handy can re-post them.

I confused the discs. My bad! I will still seed the one I have, in case anyone wants it. It is the one you made, SuperLeo. This one:

Sorry for the confusion all!

Thank you very much scuba, pim, and renev. Just tried arcsoft's TMT, and indeed it works.
Haven't checked everything yet, but it looks a great work. Thanks again, scuba.
EDIT:

NEVERMIND. I found a copy of the files from backup.

Good news is I didn't know abotu the other disc, so I'm D/L'ing it.
