What's your most impressive 3D gaming experience so far?

Obviously, it's pretty early along in the life of 3D gaming on consoles, so I'm sure there are going to be much, much better 3D experiences coming soon, but what is the best 3D experience you've had with a console game so far? PC gamers can make me jealous and talk about their best experience with a 3D PC game as well if you like. (unfortunately, my PC is ancient and I can't run any modern games on it).

My most impressive experience up until now is racing on a track called "The Edge" in Motorstorm 3D Rift. Much of the race track takes place along.... you guessed it.... The edge of cliffs overlooking an ocean view. Speaking of the views... they can be pretty breathtaking on this track. There are certain jumps where your vehicle is flying so high, and so far, that it can give you that queasy feeling in your stomach. You can almost get like a motion sickness when your vehicle does one of these super jumps.

Sometimes when your truck or buggy is going around the track on the edges of the cliff, and you're going so fast that you can't control your buggy, you end up going off the cliff down to the ocean and it's almost like you get that sensation of being way too freaking high up in the air. Like a fear of heights type of thing.

I'm just impressed that a video game's visuals can give me these kinds of sensations. Pretty dam impressive. Sure the game is running in a sub 720p resolution, and there are lots of jaggies, there is some of that 3D pixelization/blurriness thing going on, and there is even some ghosting on certain parts of certain tracks, but I still think that this game provides some killer 3D experiences.

If you have a PS3 and a 3D display, you owe it to yourself to try out Motorstorm 3D Rift.

3D Rift has some nice tracks. The replays in Wipeout HD / Fury also look very good in 3D.

For me though, the best 3D moment I had so far was in the Avatar game. Right at the beginning, after you're dropped off at the compound, there is a futuristic copter sitting in the middle of a landing pad. Just walking around it and taking the view in 3D was an impressive experience. From the correct angles it looked like the nose or tail were sticking right out of the screen at me.

I agree MotorStorm 3D Rift is awesome. I like WipeOut better as a game though. The 3D is still pretty good there too.

While Avatar does look pretty good in terms of 3D I think it's kind of a stinker of a game. I can't really get into it because of it's crappiness. The 3D doesn't quite make up for it IMHO even though it looks good. (especially walking through the jungle is pretty spectacular visually)

I played a bunch of Avatar in 3D on my Xbox 360, back when I had my old Samsung plasma that could do Checkerboard 3D. The game was pretty lame, but I liked the sequences when you are on that boat thing, and your riding around on a river. The 3D looked pretty sweet during those sequences.

I've been gaming in 3D on the PC for a long while now (I think I got my first shutter glasses back in 2002) so its hard to pick one game. I can say that recently I really enjoyed the Avatar game. The 3D was done very well and there were no anomalies like you sometimes get with 3D drivers. Most people panned the game, but I thought it was entertaining. I also thought Mirror's Edge was really nice, since there was no HUD to get in the way or anything and the bright colors really pop in 3D. Another game which worked really well was AaaaaAAaaaAAA! (yes that is the name of the game). Its reminiscent of those VR games from the Lawnmower Man, very cool. One of my old-time favorites is Unreal Tournament 2004, really nice 3D effects. And you can turn the HUD off which really helps. And the Tomb Raider series has always been really nice in 3D. But like I said, I've played a ton of games in 3D and they were all pretty cool.

Grid & Flatout 2 on PC.

I played Avatar for over 80 hours last December on Xbox360 on my 82" Mitsubishi. I was very impressed and it was the only 3D available. Motorstorm on my PS3 has the best action and feeling of height as you tumble over the cliffs edge. Serious Sam on my new powerful PC has the best 3D, clarity and color. Just Cause 2 that I am playing now in 3D on the PC is also very impressive. Can't wait for Call of Duty Nov 9 and don't know which version to buy.

I'd love to get a high-end PC to be able to try some more games in 3D, but everytime I started looking at building a PC, I kept coming to the conclusion that it would cost me about $850 or more to build the kind of PC that I'd want, and I just don't feel like spending that kinda money on it right now. I've got two PS3's, and 3 Xbox 360's scattered around my house. I've been a console gamer since the release of the Dreamcast on 9-9-99. I did play PC games from late 1996 till about mid 2000 (3dFX Voodoo owners holla!), but since then, I've gone exclusively with console gaming. I remember the old days of always needing to upgrade memory, cpus and graphics cards. (back then you had to upgrade the sound cards too, but I guess you don't need to do that nowadays...)

Still, there are definitely some games on PC that I'd LOVE to play, especially in 3D. I loved Grid on the Xbox 360, so if that game is cool in 3D on the PC, then that would be even better. I'd love to try DiRT 2 in 3D, and tons of other games as well. I've heard that the last major Tomb Raider game (can't remember the subtitle) is amazing in 3D on the PC for whatever reason.

Eventually, I'll get around to building a decent gaming PC, but for whatever reason I just keep putting it off..

For my part the best 3D gaming experience was hands down Devil May Cry 4 (PC version)
Beautiful graphics that run butter smooth, no visual bugs (iZ3D driver), and when tuning the convergence just right, the cinematics all made with the game engine use the depth space beautifully, often send stuff flying at you and give amazing out of screen effects

Next on my favourite list is Tomb Raider, the one I remember the most is Anniversary because it's the one i was playing when I got my 3D hardware and it looked fabulous with only minor visual bugs that can be disabled like the water reflections (iZ3D driver).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzDIwW-yyWQ (old SD video, a bit blurry)

Avatar had some amazing 3D graphics (especially on PC) but the game itself is really average, not really bad, but certainly not good either.

That's my top 3 but many other games are great.

I just recently played the Motostorm and Wipeout PS3 3D demos on my new 3D LG TV, and I was impressed with the visuals. The sense of immersion was increased over typical 2D views, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how CoD Black Ops and GT5 look in 3D! I haven't tried the Avatar game yet, but based on this forum maybe I'll rent it from Redbox (only $2) just to check out the 3D effects.

Redbox only rents the newer releases. They don't have a back catalog. The best way to get Avatar for PS3 is look on Craigslist or Ebay. You should be able to own the game for about $7 to $11 at the most. Play thru the whole thing at your leisure and then just resell it again.

Ahh.... It's so nice to still be able to buy used video games, and then also resale them to somebody else. Pretty soon, we won't be able to do that with any new games. We are currently still in the "good 'ole days" in the fact that we can still do this. Enjoy it while it lasts.

motorstorm the best for me so far wasnt real impressed with the mlb 10 3d demo.
Does the actuall MLB disc have 3D?? Or Is it just a demo cause I've tried countless times to play this game in 3D but theres no option to turn 3D on or off, & it doesn't go into 3D mode automaticlly, I've even done a google search on how to activate its 3D & nothing comes up aside from the mentioning of its demo

I'm gonna give it to Super Stardust I think. Motorstorm's 3D is a very very close second, but Super Startdust 3D seems like it was made for 3D honestly. It looks really amazing. I thought Wipeout's was OK, and I'm going to try readjusting my settings in GT5 and messing with convergence to see if it works any better, but thus far haven't been impressed with it. And Call of Duty Black Ops was good too, especially with the scopes on the guns.

But, overall, Super Stardust 3D for me

super stardust here too. They just got it right, clean and perfect 3d

3D∞ (3D-infinity): This little downloadable game for 360 has, IMHO has the best Pop out of the screen 3D with no crosstalk. I wish the company that made this game would make more like this.

It's still Motorstorm. I haven't really been impressed with any of the newer 3D games. The 3D in Call of Duty looks flat and the Fight Lights out has a ton of ghosting. I was really hoping that Gran Turismo 5 would show off the PS3's 3D capabilities since the game was made by Sony but the 3D mode makes the game look cartoon like. Hopefully Sony will come thru with Motorstorm Apocolypse and KillZone 3.

Wow, that's kinda depressing. Add to that the fact that Enslaved's 3D mode is supposedly horrible (3D is added via a DLC patch). I also haven't heard very much about the NBA 2K11 Best Buy 3D version. I'm wondering if that has lame 3D as well ??

My Black Ops experience has been pretty positive. Looking down the scope of a sniper rifle is pretty satisfying. Combined with surround sound, this is the most immersive 3D experience I've ever had.

I agree with Motorstorm and Stardust. Both very solid.

Can't wait for Dead Space 2 in 3D next year. It is going to be terrifying.

Is there a release date for this? Should be awesome!

Anyone know if MLB the show is in fact 3D? I know theres a demo out but I own the game & can't seem to get in to 3D!! Does not switch to 3D automaticlly & nothing in the options, even a google search turned up nothing?? Any1 know?
MLB is not in 3D. But if you do a google search, it says that MLB 11' will ship in 3D... That usually comes out in March so that's kinda close. I thought the 3D in the demo was great.

Where did you read this? I loved the first game and Extraction and am looking forward to DS2, but I didn't think it was going to support native 3D.

The original Dead Space looks pretty good in 2D>3D mode on my Samsung 63" plasma, btw.
