My favorite non-007 Roger Moore film is the underrated and much ignored SHOUT AT THE DEVIL, which also stars Lee Marvin and Barbara Perkins. Almost immediately after its 1976 release the studio cut it to pieces, from around 150 minutes to just under 120. Various cut versions are all that have been seen over the years.
Well, I recorded the film on MGM-HD the other night and was stunned to find that the time slot was 2 hours and 50 minutes. I went to the end of the film and it was at the 2 hour and 31 minute mark. Scanning back I found one four minute block of commercials. So this is the longest version of the film I have ever come across and it is just about as long as the original release print.
I'll be sitting down to watch it all tonight. There should be additional showings this month and next.
2.35:1 and it looks darned good. Pretty good stereo sound. This will never EVER be deleted off my DVR.
