I agree with both of you guys, however, I think listening to some HD tracks I downloaded, I did notice some clarity/difference, but still not as vibrant as the TR mode. With more volume, I can tell that there is a higher something going on.
I agree with you TD and PF, it just sounds dead and flat. Or would adding a little EQ/bass help. dunno!
For most audio listening, I still prefer the UL mode.
HD tracks did, however, seem to be somewhat better than the onboard music I have, MP3s/converted FLAC recordings, etc.
In TR mode my thoughts were that the instruments are portrayed realistically and clean sounding and..... at half the volume when switched, one would have to turn it up a lot in order to feel this transition (for lack of better words). Maybe this is the dead/flat feeling we are all getting from UL to TR.
Could it be as one of my friends told me.....He had some really good ADS speakers for many years and decided to purchase Salks. When he first fired them up, he felt discouraged in that they weren't like the ADSes.
Played them for awhile and then turned them off and did this several times. Finally after a while they began to sound very good.
Could the Salks have gotten better or has his ears adjusted to the new sound? Only he can answer that.
If you guys haven't tried it yet, add some EQ/bass in the mix and turn up the volume and listen a bit and report back.
The first time I played the HD tracks in TR, I was a bit taken back, but it may have been that they were just what they were.
Just my thought for what it's worth.
