I think i just figured out what the problem is, I have been DL all my files directly to the hub over my network and it seems the files themselves were getting corrupt. i guess i cant do that any one else know about that

I have a problem with HubFlow. If I try to use the folder on the Hub to save the files from hubflow, all the jpg's are corrupt. I only get half a picture most of the time. I have to use a folder on my pc hard drive to get the info and then copy the .jpgs and .xml files to the hub.

I rip the files to my PC's hard drive then copy to the hub no issues just time consuming.

Not sure what hubflow is? I copy tiffs, jpegs, and movies from my PC hard drive to the hub and have none of the issues your having. I guess your trying to save time by sending directly to the hub through the network via? I don't see this as a fault of the hub.

Can I use an android cell phone app to control the WD TV Live Hub that also let's me navigate the files by seeing them on my smart phone? The idea is to have a WD TV Live Hub play back music without needing to turn on a display.

Also wondering what the summary is regarding the WD TV Live Hub or using a WD TV Live plus and a HDD. What if anything is better with the Live Hub?

Is there an android app to allow you to see and chose files to playback from the WD TV Live Hub to whatever it is connected to? Playback content from Hub without turning on a display? I thought Plugplayer may do this but I'm not finding enough feedback yet.

After 7000 posts I'm sure you know that usually when no one answers you, no one has the answer. Why don't you try the WD forum, its much more active.

Actually, after some more research, I think Plugplayer will do it. There are a few other apps that may work also. I think I will just give the WD TV Live Hub a try and see how it works. Wish me luck! I hope my wireless router is ok with the WD TV Live Hub and my phone. I will plug the WD TV Live Hub right into the router via cable.

I don't know if this going to work the way you want it to. I was unable to find a way to browse and and control music on the wdtv. I ended up buying a Squeezebox touch to handle my music and now use the hub and strictly for video watching.

You couldn't navigate your music files on the WD TV Live hub with an android cell phone app without a display or at all?

Now the WD live has never been fast on my wired network but in the last two weeks or so it has become unusable.

1.3 Gb file taking 8+ hours. and will 'fail' in the end.
Using window 7 to navigate is now so slow I'm getting not 'responding messages'.

For the life of me I cant thing what it can be?
I have a Dreambox with a 1tb HD on the same network hub and it transfers 1.3Gb in 35 mins and is fine.

I have rebooted - WD Hub - Pc - Rooters - mapped - unmapped - changed network cable.

ant suggestions or help much appreciated.

I have an iPhone and to be honest I didn't try plugplay so hopefully it will work for you. I was just looking for a way to play my music without having to turn on the tv as well as controlling the music selection from my porch (zone 2 on my receiver). I even used the "play to" function on my laptop to control it. But in the end I found the Squeezebox had everything I wanted plus it is easy enough my wife could use it. Hopefully plugplay works for you, but it looks like it's main purpose is for streaming to or from devices.

Do you have any other devices attached to your network that are turned on such as a PC or any other media players. Try turning them off when doing a transfer to see if they are causing any issues.

Yeah, I think this may be a good win.

I doubt it does BD menus, and probably doesn't add many features the Hub doesn't already have, and I would bet they'll track the same firmware.

So in reality, this new box will be pretty much a Hub without disk, and add WiFi.



I don't know if the hub does 1080p from NetFlix, because NetFlix doesn't specify what the resolution is. It just says "HD." and it did that back when they were only doing 720p. ... and my TV only reports the resolution that the HUB is set to, not what the media is encoded at.

But yes, the Hub definitely does DD+. I've seen my AVR report that on a number of occasions.

Try and see if you can ftp into the device, it might be faster. and if it fails it does a data check and you can resume

Not thought of that what would you recommend for ftp transfers to the WD Live Hub?

Looking into getting the WD Live Hub.

I currently have a laptop that I use VLC to play my local vids.

I am very picky...and curious of the following. With VLC...if I watch a full widescreen movie I get a black bar above and below. I have a 16:9 TV and I guess the movies are 2.39:1 or 2.40:1.

With VLC...I can crop (not zoom) to 16:9 and all is wonderful. I fully understand the I am missing some video on the left and right after doing this...but that is fine to me.

Will the player on the Live Hub allow me to crop like VLC Player? I do not want to zoom (since it usually zooms too much) and do not want to force it to fit to 16:9 because of distortion.

If it doesn't...definately a deal breaker for me. Will stick to my laptop with VLC.

Great! With new firmware the speed for loading movies to my hub through my wired network increased from 10 to 13 MB second.

no 3D nor hd audio pass through.

No *DTS-HD* passthrough. Dolby True HD is fine.

I investigated this a month or two ago. I came up dry. I agree it would be nice to be able to navigate my directories without turning on the TV.
