Hmm done the update still really flakey some work some don't and its not split by library as I thought...

Maybe need to add my titles manually, I'm not sure I trust this aut detect lark.

For example I have in the same library

Akira
Amon Saga

Amon Saga works, Akira doesn't...

I've tried manually adding Akira and same issue, all settings under the disc pop up seem identical. Really really odd...

Did a check via WMC and it works in there for both titles.

How do I check the launch couldn't work out how to do that, MM on Dune keeps restarting itself as well.

A typical Dune folder entry is

icon_path=.Icon.aai
icon_sel_path=.SelectedIcon.aai
media_url=smb://Guest:@DELLSERVER1420/Media Library - 2/Movies/Bond The World is Not Enough/Bond The World is Not Enough.dvd
template_name=PlaybackFolder

Should this not be pointing to a .iso rather than the .dvd.
turns out the problem is meta data in the folder as well as the ISO so the MM is refering to the wrong file.
I never used the folder monitoring and I never had any problem with mymovies... Coincidence ?
I think my solution is to remove the MM montioring and recreate the collection manually, I'm guessing this will take some time but it will work.

I don't seem to get any backdrops either on the Dune not sure why as yet.
try the new PR5 that they just launched this week-end. Apparently it resolves some dune export problems.

For the backdrops you need 500 points to have it (720p only, 1000 points needed for 1080p backdrops).
PR5 is not available for the CM only download although the changelog indicates that it is. Wonder if they pulled it?
Anyone want to report on the infamous disappearing TV show folder bug on PR5?

Most of The Time pr are first released for mm mce version, cm follows a bit after (cm only being a part of the other version change log is always for both even if cm alone is not updated)

@killroy : what's happening with series from previous version ?

Ps : will post a new template tomorrow...

Simply stated... you import your TV shows and when you export them to Dune folder they show up fine for the main index of the show but either the episodes do not show up or they show up for a few days (sometimes just a few cycles) then they begin to disappear from the GUI. They are still there on the Dune folder export but they do not show up on the GUI. This is reported and duplicated by various people on the MM forum and on here with me included.

It does seem like something is always broken with the Dune export

I am of the opinion that its more of Dune firmware GUI issue than a MyMovies issue but there is something in the MyMovies export that creates the bug since Zappiti/Yadis do not have the same issue.

Very strange indeed. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I don't use mm for series, I just watch it and delete it and never keep it on my hdd, so I won't be of any help about this problem.

Yeah, I still use Zappiti as my main jukebox since it has always worked bug free for me with the export. Same with yaDIS when I test, but I have always run into issues with the MyMovies export (and in particular TV Show support).

However, if we ever got TV Show support in the My Movies iOS/Android App, that would be killer and I would even need to rely on the Dune UI that much less.

Fyi iPad use is broken since pr4 : it seems that there's a problem with path And I can't launch a movie from my iPad anymore strangely launching for the dune mm Ui is ok...(while for others it's broken )

Have to test pr5 if it's working now.

They have major improvements to do on series both on iPad and dune, on boxset everywhere and on general Ui on dune.

But nevertheless mm is the only soft able to manage my online and offline collection on dune as well as the iPad, and that's why I keep on using it, even if I'm looking seriously to yadis (mainly for it's beautiful Ui)

I know for Zappiti a Flash Based UI and an iOS app is in the works, so that is what I am looking out for. TV shows is a big part of my collection so any tablet based App that I rely on needs to have proper support for if I am ever going to go down the "tablet control" path

Zapitti won't be free to use forever...they want to reserve it to people who bought their dune at hdland.

No problem for me, I never have problems with paying for/supporting software as long as it fits what I need (and plus no reason you can't stick with the last free version as long as it is still supported by your player)

Hi all,

this is Template 8, inspired from various things I saw on the WD TV Live forums.

movies :

Episode :

file is here : http://www.mediafire.com/?xzrfjd0zeudo29n

If you don't like the left/right icons and want to keep it as simple as possible, just open the .xml with notepad++ and remove lines 122 to 138 (movie) and 179 to 195 (episode)

Mr. Eric,

After installing template 7, when I view a movie folder in MyMovies, the backdrop is a blue curtain. There's no info there. So I think I installed something wrong - or do I need to have 1000pts to see the backdrop?

I followed these instructions:

Win7 user go to :
"C:\\ProgramData\\My Movies\\FileStorage\\User Customization\\Meta Data\\Dune Templates"

3. in "..\\Dune Templates", create a new folder with exact same name as the .xml file in the zip (for "Template 2.xml" create a "Template 2" folder, with same capital "T"). If you want to install the 3 templates, you will need to create 3 new folders.

4. copy/paste in this new folder everything you will find in the "..\\Dune Templates\\My Movies Default" folder

5. copy/paste in new folder the .png files corresponding and that you found in the .zip (.png in "Template 2.zip" in "Template 2" folder, say OK for overwriting files)

6 copy paste the .xml file in "..\\Dune Templates" (next to "My Movies Default.xml")

I wasn't exactly clear on #6. What do you mean "next to "My Movies default.xml"? I just copied it into Dune Templates. Thanks!
You've done everything right. If the general layout is displaying but you just miss the backdrop picture it's certainly because you don't have enough points.

to have the backdrops displayed you need at least 500 points for 720p backdrops or 1000 points for 1080p.
Right on. Time to pony up.
you need to create 9 or 10 new movies from scratch to get 500 points. It can be very fast if you have in your collection some old dvd or new editions from exsiting dvd as long as the barcode is new. Or you can use some DVD from unknown movies that you can buy for a penny (old westerns or sci-fi movies from the 50s for example).

Last time I did this for a friend and it took me 3 hours to reach the 500 points (but I'm used to create movie in the database and i do it really fast now ).

Also, I believe My Movies will show/use the backdrops if you already have (there are several free metadata tools you can use to gather the backdrops)

I went ahead and paid the $50 to get 1250 points. I'm sure it would take me more than 10 hours of effort to get the points by uploading data and I value my time at more than $5 an hour

I paid for the 2500 points cause I really love this app and Brian really listens to feedback and input for feature changes....and if you know me you will know how seldom I said that.
Speaking of feature changes... Now that the Mac OS X version is final I wonder how long before we get TV support on the iOS apps? Those apps are rock solid and the only thing missing is TV support.

Haven't posted in this thread in a while, mainly because I have finally gotten things working and I'm taking the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach. I have been using a single D1 in the theater with system storage via a front SD card and a USB thumb drive holding my MM index in the rear. Everything is shared over SMB to a Vista 32 server. It has been working so well, in fact, that I recently picked up a second D1 for the kids to use upstairs.

Tonight I unpacked it, threw an SD card in the front for system storage, updated the firmware, used the new firmware feature to setup system storage (unlike a year ago when I had to DL the file and load it locally). Then I popped in a USB thumb drive in the rear, pointed My Movies (running on my server) to that thumb drive, and had MM send over a fresh and updated index. Set an icon for MM into my favorites and loaded up the index without issue. So far, this is going way to easy. Just for kicks, tried to load a BD iso (tried several that I have successfully played before) and I got the all-to-familiar "failed to blah blah blah url" problem I remember from nearly a year ago. Keep in mind the original D1 was unplugged two days ago and is currently offline because I'm moving things around in the theater, so the two weren't fighting for a share or anything. So I disconected the new D1, reconnected the original D1 in it's place (never having removed any of the connected storage from either, since they each have their own) and sure enough, what was working before is now not working on even the old D1. Both D1's have working system storage and have fresh indexes on them stored locally. The original D1 was working perfectly for the past 8-10 months in this exact configuration. Now, I can't get either one of them to get past the failed URL issue. I'm certain there is a step I have forgotten along the way, not having done this for almost a year. Can someone please remind me what I forgot? I can't get either one to work now. I KNOW it's something simple.

I am also having the failed URL problem, which I have been having since the beginning of my recent implementation. I was hoping that I could get some assistance on this. I have attached two screenshots of my HDI Dune export setup on the Mymovies collection management.
The first one shows the basic setup tab and how my Index location is setup vs. my path configuration. I am using NFS, so the first thing I thought was that maybe my path configuration was not porting wrong since "movies" was being spelled with a capital M in the path and NFS is case sensitive. The second screenshot, though, shows that the path is actually configured correctly as NFS. I can't for the life of me figure out what is being done wrong and I cannot get past the failed URL problem.
I also went into one of my title folders in the mymovies folder to look at the path configuration for that movie's dune_folder.txt file and the path appears correct (media_url=nfs://A2SERVER:/movies/Meet the Robinsons/Meet the Robinsons/) for meet the robinsons. Do we have any ideas?

OK, so that's problem #1, here's problem #2.

When I shut down my media server (shut it down regularly for energy savings) and then turn it back on, when I try to access my share from the dune, the folder opens, but is typically empty. I tried going into the popup menu and then selecting refresh, but this did nothing. What I ended up doing, was exiting out to my sources page, highlighting the mymovies folder, selecting popup menu, edit folder, and then just selected OK (didn't change anything), then, when I got back into the folder, it is fully populated with the subfolders. Any thoughts about this?

One of the suggestions I've heard from Mike at Duneplayer.com is to use NFS to share my mymovies index and then SMB for the actual folders. This may very well work, but I'm not sure how to (step-by-step) setup this method. I also am not opposed to putting the file on the USB drive I have attached to the dune for system storage, but I'm also unsure as to how to accomplish this.

thanks in advance for any assistance I can get.

Add another colon to the end of your path configuration. You want the media_url to be:

media_url=nfs://A2SERVER:/movies:/Meet the Robinsons/Meet the Robinsons/

Without this extra colon, the Dune tries to guess which part of the path is the share path. Sometimes it might guess correctly, especially if you've already browsed to that share through some other way (like a network shortcut). Other times it won't guess correctly and it won't be able to mount the share properly.

See official dune_folder.txt doc for more details (search for "nfs:").

My understanding is that the Dune index can be customized to show top actors as well. Has anyone done this? If so, how do you do it?
