110" image on a 120" Screen.... How will it play out...?!?

My projector has 1.1 zoom and i was thinking of getting a 120" screen on which i can project from 110" upto 120" with the level of level of zoom i have.

But i had a few doubts on which i would like to know yours & others thoughts...

- If i project a 110" on a 120" screen then i will have a certain amount of white area still empty.. i mean the image would be within the black borders unlike a 120" on a 120" screen in which case the picture will completely fill out the white screen area.

1. So how would the 110" image look on a 120" screen...??

2. Would projecting a smaller image on a larger screen nulify the effect of the black borders ? i mean the black borders are there for a reason right...?!?

So how would a 110" image on a 120" Screen play out...?

Experts...?!?

Thanks ;-)

You don't want any unused screen area. You most definitely want the picture filling up the screen all the way to the borders.

Why would you want to change the image size to 110" if you can do 120"?

well my room length is 20 feet. the seating distance is 15 feet. From that distance i like 106" which i've been trying on a wall.

however if i move my sofa back to about 17-18 feet then 106" looks small and 110" to 115" looks ideal but for that i will have to move my sofa back everytime i wanna watch a movie ( slightly inconvineint )

also the price diff between 106" and 120" is not much. besides 110" is not available in my country.

so either i can go 106" and watch from 15 feet

or

i can go 120" and watch 110"/115"/120" from 18 feet... but mostly i'll be watching 110 or 115.

but i wanna know if i watch 110 or 115 on a 120 screen then how will the abandoned extra white area play out ?

i'm really confused with this. I've not been able to setup my rear speakers till now since i dont know what distance i'll be sitting...... ;-(

It's gonna look like a 110" image on a 120" screen.

I think you will get used to a larger screen very quickly. I am running 120" from about 12' (maybe a bit less)

I agree with everyone else. It is going to look funky and the unmasked edges are going to bother you.
