Yeah, but you don't get the CoD games for the story, you get it because that's what everyone else here is playing!

Yes, but I tire of them quickly... and unlike the PS3... the Xbox has cross game chat... so while your playing COD... I could be playing a game that I like...

I don´t own MW2, i trade it.
I still have Black Ops, i guess they are preatty much the same in audio quality i guess.

The sounds in Blaq Ops kinda suck to be honest.. well atleast the ambient sounds. That said the bigger guns do sound great. Definitely a treat to hear a Sniper or LMG gunner on your team blasting the enemy.

No not really, IW got their own soundengine or something like that.
But in my opinion its good for positioning, for pure sound its meh.

Does anyone have any experience with the Plantronics Gamecom X95?

Yeah i didn´t have that game in my mind. but since i already have Black ops i guess i´ll still give it a try.. at least a few minutes.
I think i´ll do that with most of my games that i own.

I don´t own Dead space or BC2 no more, so those i guess i need to buy them again.

Did you guys notice during the E3 BF3 days. They were using the Astro A40's with the BF3 edition

I haven't heard from anyone who played the demo at E3 about the headsets.

In case anyone is in the market (doubtful as this thread found it's way to the last post on this forum)

Looks like amazon will have a set of headphones in GoldBox @ 4:00 PDT 6/21/11 (today).

Someone mentioned they will likely be x41, but a guy can hope for px5 I guess!

Tritton AX 720s $99 and free 2 day shipping w/Prime

I bit and picked up a set of Triton AX720.

First 2 hours were good, didn't get saved by any footstep noises, but Battlefield 2 sounded better than it ever had with my Dolby Digital surround.

I want to be using Optical Dolby Digital 5.1 over Pro Logic II. correct? (don't hit me)
People who use mixamp etc, do you find you need to have it loud to hear footsteps on MW2/BO?
Have any dates been announced for the new wireless trittons?

viisual, you want to use DD 5.1 if you are feeding the Tritton control box a 5.1 signal. That would mean you have to be connected via toslink optical and the xbox has to be set to ouput 5.1 surround in audio settings.

If you are connect via analog (the red/white cables) then Pro Logic II will take the stereo signal being sent from the xbox and simulate a surround sound signal.

Which is better for headphones I've never tested extensively. One could argue either is just as good since even a 5.1 signal is 'simulated surround' through a pair of headphones with only 2 speakers...it comes down to what sound data is being sent and where the sound is proceesed. Most would assert that sending 5.1 is better since all of the raw game audio elements (including positioning) are sent to decoder, leaving only Dolby Heaphone processing to translate that information to front, left front, right front, left back, right back, sub, etc. through the left and right speakers.

I can't speak specifically for BO, but for MW2, Halo, BFBC2 etc I usually have the mixamp knob somewhere near 2'oclock so I can make out chat over the game sound...and volume is at least 1 o'clock to make out enemy sound queues. Crank up volume and leave the mix based on your comfort level. Volume levels vary game to game so YMMV.

slyderulz, Thanks for the response; very informative.

Would an extra $100 towards PX5 been worthwhile in my case? Or will I be fine with the ax720 until the die out, then upgrade and use something w/ the old amp?

Not too loud for me, but it depends on the headphones/headset you use. I'm at around 2:00 on the mixamp's main volume using K702 headphones, with the voice/game mix at 2:00 as well.

Yes you should use the optical DD 5.1 signal over Pro Logic II. Dolby Headphone does a good job of taking a DD 5.1 signal and simulating surround sound on headphones. Pro Logic II does a meh job of taking a 2-channel signal and making it five channel.

Pretty subjective call there viisual. I think it depends on what u want in terms of convenience, sound quality & upgrade path.

I only had the AX 720s a short time before I went the astro wireless mix amp route. I can say that the tritton decoder box is pretty comparable the TB and astro offerings in terms of audio codecs supported. If you don't mind being wired I'd say stick with the Tritton decoder box for a while. I think formulanerd has experience with using different phones w/that box. Look over this thread & hit him up if u have any questions...he'll be happy to help you out.

The TBs are great if u want an all in one wireless solution. I had the x41s for a while and they were great for gaming...I'm just a bit of a picky listener and prefer the soundstage of a more audiophile grade headphone. If u don't mind being tied to the one set of wireless cans they might be the way to go (at least until the tritton wireless rig comes out)

If you want some wireless freedom and flexibility in terms of cans the astro 5.8 mix amp is the only option at this time. It's not without faults but it works great for me and paired w the senn 360 pc cans I can use them for games, movies & music with nice balanced sound regardless of content.

Not sure if I answered your question, but if it were me I'd play with the 720 box while I examine all the options.
Definitely answered thanks!

Just testing the ax720 right now... And I noticed something:

When I adjust the volume to a very low level; the audio in the left eat seems to cut out before the right ear...

It's, at least to me, indistinguishable at higher volume levels; where I play games at, but then again I just am not sure if one ear is slightly muted in comparison.

Is this a concern, should I return, or is this to be expected?

Note: I have to adjust volume slowly and it's clearly noticeable, try it? :X

I finally got the PX5 and i guess i don´t have a good hear at all because i loved it.
So impress. This is my first headphone i use for gaming and i´m very impress.

I was afraid that i was going to miss my HT setup but i won´t. I couldn´t play with normal volume, so i was missing a lot of sounds when using the HT. Now i can hear it all and the positional audio is great.

I know most of you are hard core audiophiles but the PX5 sounds great to me and that´s what is important
