Nope. I use it as designed, and it sounds great to everyone I play w/.

Ok. I'll try putting the mic lower by my chin, although I like the mic monitoring I get by having it closer to my mouth.

Exclusive to Best Buy? Maybe this means they will have it before the Amazon date? Best Buy also has the A40 and A30 as well as the battery packs and other accessories on their website now.

MSRP in Europe 249,99€ (I probably could get it for 220€). I guess price in EEUU could be 250 $, having no additional euopean distribution costs and taxes

Seems a bit odd. How would a smaller market like Spain have it but not the larger one like the plain 'ol Amazon.com? It's still showing unavailable there...

This is a good question, but I don't consider the posibility of a sooner release in Spain, this does not make sense. They are probably waiting to announce it at the E3 so it would problably be a worlwide release date. The fact is that spanish are impatient

Now that gets me excited.

1) Best Buy is the go-to name for B&M electronics in the US. So I'll take their word over web-only retailers like Amazon or mom & pop shops anyday.

2) That they have a excellent description, picture and "exclusive" bit all on a printed sales flyer. Means its more serious than a website which can throw a random date up.

As I've said before. Amazon has promised a released date. Amazon has even let me preorder for that promised release date. That was a year ago. I simply dont trust Amazon's website for when these will actually show up on store sales. Printed BB sales flyer tho.. definitely grabs my attention! Where did you get that picture from BTW? Would love to see the rest of it.. including the QR code.

For those of you that have your own headsets, and want to use them with the DSS or DSS2 on the XBox 360 with voice mixing, I put together the following picture to show you how to set it up.
Someone may have already posted something similar in this thread, but I couldn't find it, I could find reference to using the following components, but I was never sure of how to set it up properly until I got the items listed below and experimented.

What you need:
1 Stereo Headset (or Headphones with a Mic Mod)
1 XBox Controller
1 DSS or DSS2
1 Optical Cable
1 FiiO E6 (E5 or other FiiO models should work)
1 Headset Buddy Xbox PC Headset Adapter (I had the wired one, but got their new puck version, which I like alot better)

Now if you love wires and hate wireless, this is the setup for you, because there are a lot of wires!

I have not had any hiss with this, and am able to adjust the chat volume seperate from the game volume.
I also have a wireless mixamp 5.8, which I also use if I want to be more "free" when gaming. (usually my son is using the mixamp, that's why I use the DSS2 setup)

You can use the picture above to see where all of the connections go.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Those aren't FPS freaks they're FPS scary stalks! And what's going on with the classic PC game pad/joystick thingy? Lol! I'm officially intrigued!

Those are modsticks, I believe. I use modsticks as you can adjust the height to your liking. Mine arent that high and I removed the dpad stick as it just got in the way for me. I like them alot more than the freaks. I do recommend a different top or covers, like he has. I used their dome top. You do need to take apart the controller though. Also the stick is thinner than stock.

emartins speaks the truth!
Yes, they are modsticks, I have issues with the FPS Freaks, have a habit of pushing too hard in a direction and they would pop off of the controller. I looked around and found the modsticks. I like them tall for sure! The DPad stick makes it easier for me to get to the DPad since my other sticks are higher. I put rubber covers over the modsticks because the aluminum tops start hurting my fingers after awhile. You basically have to take your controller apart to put these on because they replace the original sticks.

Yes the stock tops do bother you after awhile. I bought the fusion grips and I love them. Tried the rubber ones and preferred these, just felt better to me. Was actually going to raise mine a little, not as tall as yours though.

Did you ever get around to taking a new picture of the ad? What magazine is it in?

I should... but still in school, work has me on call like... all the time, and on my spare time... I've been relaxing with music (portable or stereo @ home)... not gaming much... then again, I now have the Vita... but I might be tempted when the new Xbox comes out...

I use the Turtle Beach X42 headset and it is pretty nice.

Only caveat is you have to replace the batteries when they are used up. I got some rechargeable batteries though.

Would have been nice if they had included a headphone stand with built in battery charger like a lot of wireless stereo headphones have.

More Turtle Beach headsets will be unveiled at E3

I'm curious if Astro will be launching a new MixAmp or Headset soon. I hope so, they need something totally wireless IMO.

just ordered the Turtle Beach DSS2 for $50 to give a little oomph to my TB X12 headset. *fingers crossed*

You bring up a good point. Astro has an incredible opportunity here. They have gaming headset experience and they have wireless experience. With the mixamp 5.8 now going on 2 years old, where is their "completely wireless" solution?

Turtle beach has came the closest with the XP500 & XP400, but after hearing complaints about sound quality.. (and my own experience with the very weak wireless TB X4's) I'm not anxious to try any of their products right now. Will be interesting to see what announcements come out of E3 from TB, Astro and Tritton!

edit: I also now see in your link that Astro has lost their official licensing deal with MLG. And that it now belongs to TB. Maybe TB does have plans for a high quality headset that is coming soon!
