IF you can understand WTF he is saying.

Some of the choices Nolan made in this movie are not so smart (unless there was a conscious decision to set up future Bats ).

The Big Bad has a dog muzzle on?
Can't hear his dialog and it covers the face of the actor so much we can't appreciate his performance?

Robin (an Achilles heel in the whole Batman mythology)?
Has anyone ever given a rat's a$$ about The Boy Wonder?
Has he ever been anything but in the way?

And, as Josh point out, the cops running into hailstorm of bullets?
Sure, the majority of cops are morons, but they aren't idiots.

I smelled a whiff of Joel Schumacher several times while watching this movie....

Them cops are idiots, haven't you ever watched the Keystone Cops? Why should they make cops look smart. That movie was flat out chaos, anarchy, mayhem , with intense action, I loved the ebb and flow of the movie.

I am one of those rare birds who doesn't give a sh!t whether or not there is blood and guts in my movies....not even in the horror genre.
I simply don't need either to be kempt in suspense, but that's just me.

I take it that you didn't care too much for Saving Private Ryan.

I remember people raving over Saving Ryans Privates, opps!! I mean Saving Private Ryan. In my opinion. That movie was 2 hours of blood and guts and nothing else.

The critics whose reviews were collected by the Rotten Tomatoes site were 93 percent favorable in their reviews of Saving Private Ryan. What the hell, though, what can half a million voters and the critics know? More seriously your decidedly minority view of Saving Private Ryan just goes to show that the quality of a film is a matter of taste and not everyone agrees.

The camaraderie. The pressure of war, which resulted in some internal conflicts. The personal stories. The coward finally taking a stand. Seeing a military car drive up the road to deliver news the family knew was coming. The struggle that Ryan went through his entire life as to whether he was a good man or not. There is so much to SPR beyond the Omaha Beach scene. The emotions that so many people feel when watching this movie goes to show how little it has to do with blood and guts. YMMV.

When I saw this with my wife, halfway through the movie, she leans over to me and I assume she is going to comment thusly. Nope, she says, we have to have the bluray when it comes out...

Two words. Burt Ward. Case closed.

Belatedly, I ordered the BD of this film from Amazon this afternoon. Had overlooked doing so until I came back to this thread earlier today. Thanks, gang!

While we used the subtitles (so as to keep the volume reasonably low), we watched this tonight on our 50" 8+-year-old Sony Grand Wega II RPTV using the TV's speakers with simulated surround sound, and we could hear and understand pretty much everything Bane said, or thought we could. Maybe if we turned off the subtitles we'd misunderstand some of his dialogue.

However, as fun as the movie is to watch, the other criticisms above are definitely ones I'd agree with.

Darn good TVs.

Watched the movie originally in an IMAX.
In spite of eardrum splitting volume, I couldn't make out half of Bane's dialog.

I have the BD now, but haven't taken a peek/listen.
Definitely will have the subtitles engaged....

When I saw The Dark Knight Rises in a brand new IMAX theater, which had state of the art audio, I missed a lot of what Bane was saying, as a lot of others did. That's one reason I am so anxious to receive my BD of the film. I will watch it with subtitles so that I can finally understand what it is that the masked man, Bane, is mumbling.

I have never seen such a dull, bleek, boring, depressing comic book movie as this one. I had no idea what the hell it was even about, maybe it's because I dozed off about 4x. Even that elaborate plane hi jack scene opening felt so staged but it was confusing as hell as you didn't know who was the bad or good guy. Was this a movie about some cancer patient in 4th stage cause that's what Bale looked like. Btw I finally figured out what Bane's voice reminded me off..it was Elmer Fudd and a bit of count dracula LOL. So I guess YMMV

It's no Prometheus, that's for sure.

My concern about buying the Blu ray was the Bane dialog issue, but thanks to the the subtitle idea, I'm in. I have to stop buying Comic book hero flicks at some point but I'm a serious "I'm Batman" fanboi... for now.

I realized something just last night after all the Dark Knight Rises commercials airing lately. None of them include Bane's voice. I guess they know he's difficult to understand.

i actually remember hearing bane's voice in one commercial.

i remember due to the comments on this thread from those saw it at the cinema and i wanted to hear it myself.

To bad there isn't a "Bane Subtitle Track" on this release....

Kind of like the Pikey subtitle track on the Snatch dvd?

I was comparing to the fact about the pencil scene in TDK or Joker blowing up a hospital or even just being a complete sick maniac. I feel the movie was dark as it shouldve been and really kept me entertained like what is this crazy guy going to do next. It was a well thought out film.

TDKR on the other hand was like a tv episode of batman. The acting by talia at the end was poor. The cops after weeks of barely any food or water have the energy to run into gunfire. Batman jumps out of the batwing to have hand to hand combat.

Batman has time to create a bat fire signal when the city is about to explode. bane being a puppet. Among numerous other things said to me Nolan didnt really care about this movie at all. It wasnt as thought out as the 2nd and the 1st and was on the level of the 2nd transformers in terms of quality.

If Nolan had went with Riddler who coulve played a jigsaw type of role with people around the city this movie couldve been a classic
