Can anyone else confirm a less than 56 degree C temperature, specially as low as 36?

I think mine stays at about 51 degrees. I had it on for more than 24 hours both off and in standby and the temp during standby stayed at around 51 degrees. Those with hotter units may notice more noise?

Just like the DVD and Bluray players FF and REW are very much present all major media players (Popcorn Hour, Dune , Xtreamer and even Popbox).

In fact trickplay is a challenging feature and shows the maturity of the SDK on the SoC.

Looks like Intel has to catch up to get on the bus ....

Can someone test this out to see if they can replicate this bug I found.

Put the BB into standby, leave it there for any amount of time. Now navigate the the Boxee Browser and see if it opens. I have found that most apps will open jsut fine, but the browser app will act like its loading, but never does.

Always greater than 50. It basically stayed at 55 +/- 1. The fan was always at 50%, but I know that the unit got louder after leaving it on for a day so I am not sure what to make of that 50%.

Baseless LOL.

At least this time i learn my lesson and not order 2 like i did with popbox.

Waiting for them to crack this thing wide open so it can run XBMC

Tell then my Asus O!plays and HTPC rules.
Mine stays at about 56 degrees when idle and goes to 60-61 degrees during playback. Fan stays at 50% the entire time and noise has not been an issue so far.

Just got an email from Avner that they are still testing the new update. No word on if it is coming out this weekend but sounds like they are burning the midnight oil out there in NYC.

Interesting, so even though your fan is working you can't hear it? (Or aren't you just bothered by it?

Whilst it was Idle i heart the fan going at high speed i guess - because after a while it changed gears and became more silent. But I wasn't using the machine at the time.
Btw, if you have added an app repository, how can you removed it again?

To be fair to the BB the type of noise coming from the fan is not that annoying and wouldn't bother most people. Very few fans are silent. Small fans tend to have a higher pitch which often makes them harder to take than larger fans which move slower. Still, there was a noticeable difference between the noise generated by the two BBoxes I tried.

Since everyones fan is stuck at 50% all the time and the noise varies as the fan speeds up and down hasn't it occured to anyone that the speed reporting doesn't work? It's either of two things:
1) Fan speed is constant at 50% (for example if the fan is rated at 5000rpm it is programmed to run at 2500rpm)
2) Fan speed reporting doesn't work (somebody hardcoded a 50% value)
I haven't seen anyone report this as an error?
Btw what is the make & model no of the fan?

It's the final countdown!
We are all forgetting that Avner and Co. are using Hawaiian/Aleutian time zones as the basis of "at the end of the weekend". Thus, they technically have until 5AM Monday morning EST to upload the firmware. Next he'll say that Vudu will be here at launch (by "here" he meant the icon only, you silly people! Don't you just love a play on words), that Netflix will be available by the end of the year (did anyone ask him which culture's new year he's referring to that doesn't coincide with ours?), and that Netflix will be in HD (to skirt the 1080p v. 720p). Oh, Avner, we love your games!
Who cares? I don't mind waiting a little longer, especially if it means that many more bug fixes and upgrades are included. As pointed out numerous times....at least they are on here interacting with us....that goes a long way.

edit. 3 minutes later:

Hardware Model: DSM-380

Boxee Version: 1.0.1.16126
CPU Temperature: 43 C
Fan Speed: 50%

I must have the hottest Box around. This is in a 67F room right now.

Hardware Model: DSM-380

Although it doesn't vary much whether under load or not. I don't know if that is a good thing or not.

Or the temperture sensor?

How warm should the outside of the box be? I'm reading
76F - logo
82F - by SD slot
85F - left side
79F - top
85F - above HDMi port
90F - 95F around air vents
90F - 100F around the bottom

What readings do you have?

I haven't seen mine get over 55. Mostly in the 51-54 range.

On another note, has anyone ever noticed that sometimes when you manually scrape a file, it doesn't seem to stick and you need to do it a 2nd time? Also, I have some files that it seems to find, but says "Unable to Bring the Movie Details". "Band of Brothers" is one that I can never get to work. Seems to happen more on TV episodes than movies.

That does seem really hot. I played around with mine yesterday for over 5 hours and never saw temps over 40 C. I played movies, listened to music and fooled around with just about everything on the menu. My room is fairly cold - 16 C - as I have a heater issue at the moment. I don't see much of a difference between idle and load either.

Hardware Model: DSM-380
Boxee Version: 1.0.1.16126
Room Temp: 16 C
CPU Temp Start up and idling: 34 C
Under load: CPU Temperature: 39 C

just checked mine again after being idle for ~20 hrs:

Hardware Model: DSM-380
Serial Number:
Boxee Version: 1.0.1.16126
CPU Temperature: 39 C
Fan Speed: 50%

the box is in my bedroom on top of my dresser with good ventilation. temp in the room, ~69 F (~20 C.)

i'll be using the box later today and see what the temp is like during use.

Where do you find the temp/fan speed info?

I've had pretty good luck in general with scraping, but did have this problem with one disc. I had to re-scrape several episodes a couple times to remove them from the unidentified files area, and now only one out of six shows up in my shows area even though all were successfully identified. I can still access the missing shows through the files route, but they have otherwise disappeared.

In am in the US and have big issues with Boxee Box scraping. I realize that Hulu is currently blocked as well as some networks. However, the Boxee Box scrapers do not pull TV show content correctly from the The CW and Fancast, and other sites for that matter. I did not see these issues in .9. Some shows scrape only clips, others do not show current epiosdes and/or are missing episodes, and some shows display nothing. Seems like big issues. I have tons of issue examples from mainstream network TV. Hopefully this gets fixed. I really like the Boxee Box but I am on the bubble in terms of returning it and just running an HTPC where I will not have these or as many problems. My primary use is a combination of getting web TV content and access to my local files.

BTW, I took a look at the ZincTV (which I could launch from the PC version of Boxee). They are doing a pretty nice job on their browser for TV based content. Netflix works, full screen works, flash content works great (it fast), search finds stuff, and they have the ability to easily access / display your favorites right on the main screen.

Eli/Dan - you guys should take a look at their brower implementation to at least see what they are doing. (Sorry for bringing up another product / maybe you have checked it out already) The full screen capability works. Editorial - I like that I can get to regular Hulu versus using something like Playon. They do a good job combining a pretty powerful browser along with menu based easy access to internet content. Please note - I am a big Boxee Fan and staying with the product. I am not sure however there is enough flexibility with the Boxee Box for me and may need to run it on a PC or HTPC instead.
