yes, you can stretch any file from 4:3 to 16:9, 14:9, original, custom, zoom etc. Regarding audio dropouts, there is issue only with hd audio like dts-hd and truhd audio tracks, regular dts or dolby is/was never a issue. the HD audio dropouts will be fixed in the next major release/upgrade as per members in this forum.

That they can display 3D content in Side by Side (SBS) or Over Under format - which splits the images horizontally rather than vertically.

Is there any box out there that can't?

I mean, really. There's nothing special about SBS / T&B... It's just vanilla video...

There was actually an update on this recently. The fix is possibly in, BUT they have to go through recertification to get it implemented as it involves a new SDK. It probably wont make the next major release (1.5) if I had to pit money on it. Anyone who wants more details on it can take a look at the JIRA ticket. Since this hasn't been tested by the user community take the.fix.with a grain of salt, but Boxers says.they are.no longer seeing dropouts where they once were seeing them.

I have a boxee box and love being able to play my files from my freenas server on it. The only thing that I noticed is that netflix takes a while to load a show/movie before it starts playing. It takes about a couple of minutes of loading time then it starts playing. This is a lot slower than on a wmc7 or xbox 360. I've read that changing your DNS server will help but are there any other solutions to this? I will try to clear my netflix cache/data in the settings to see if that helps as well.

I'm having some issues with my poster art thumbnails for both series and movies. Even the internet suggestions on the homepage have the problem.

What happens is there is no art, just a clear background, but switching from movies to series sometimes shows some of the thumbnails- it seems to be random. They can reappear or disappear sometimes just from scrolling up or down. I have about 200 movies and 4 series with maybe 50 episodes total. I have never see this before, and I haven't made any changes to anything other than adding an occasional movie. Rebooting the BB or my PC does not seem to fix the issue.

Anyone seen this? I'm thinking something has become corrupted and I need to re-scan everything from scratch, but want to avoid it if I can since I will have to manually identify so many things.

Thanks,

New Beta Firmware 1.5.0.23422 is out @ http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?p=240389
post #8894 of 9554
Yes Beta 1.5.0.23422 is out. Features some spiffy changes to the UI. No the HD audio drop out issue is not fixed yet. That is scheduled for sometime in the following months after certification. There are a few buffering issues remaining to be fixed under both SMB & NFS. All in all it's really nice though. I don't see myself going back to any older firmware because I like the UI changes. Lots of bugs fixed, plenty still to go. Give it a try but remember this if it's an issue for you: Reverting from version 1.5.0 to version 1.2.2 requires factory restoring the Boxee Box.

Still can't resume in mp3s. And still no random slideshow

Nope. I was about to send you to the boxee.tv forums, but they appear to be offline, which is mmmm... odd.
The Boxee forum is back up now
Very Odd! -- if you click to change the Boxee forum to a new page/window it's still borked -- but if you simply click on the Boxee forum link to update the page, it works fine

I tried the beta and really like it, the gui is very nice and seems really responsive and quick. I don't like the "watched" check marks and the small episode images for TV episodes though.

Hello all,

I just purchased a Boxee box and am trying to install apps on it. However, not a single one will download successfully and I cannot get the boxee.tv site or forums to load to research it further.

Does anyone have any advice? This is quite frustrating.

sounds like it's not setup..or connected to the internet, or you are not signed in
post #8903 of 9554
I am logged in but the box says it cannot get a wireless internet connection. Therefore it says that boxee is offline.

What's weird is that I was luckily able to install the Netflix app and it is able to work and playback even though the box is "offline".

I would reset to factory default and try to update again. Seems like the issue I had with the last update.

Power down the device and press and hold the power button for 6 secs to get to the device menu.
I didn't make any changes but everything is working fine and installing properly this morning.

Thank you for your advice and help.

That's very disappointing.
Thanks for the answer.

Yes, it is. The Boxee folks are not big at buying licenses, and WMA-Lossless requires a license from Micro$oft. Apple-Lossless requires a license from Apple. FLAC is the only non-proprietary lossless format that I know of, which is why it appears in almost every player.
