Super Meat Boy (XBLA) is (frustratingly) addictive

Surprised there has not been any discussion about this game, since it's old school appeal and addictive gameplay.

So has anyone else played it? I call it a fantastic blend of old school platforming with a unique style and is loaded with easter eggs and references, (the Donkey Kong style level is called Weibe)

My only complaint is that holding the sprint trigger down all the time causes some serious hand cramping.

Yea, I have it. It's really good. This year's Trials HD.

Good comparison. Feel free to add me for some leaderboard competition.

But I'm still playing a ****-ton of Vanquish (which also surprisingly doesn't have an active thread!!), so it may be a little while before I get back to it.

Holding X also makes you run, just like Mario on the NES.

Also, this game is quite rad. I threw my girl at it and she liked it enough that we had to pick it up.

Ya, I thought the same thing and Trials HD is still one of my favorite 360 games.

Ya, I tried using X but I just don't seem to have the same fine control when jumping and sprinting that the later levels require.

So I'm stuck on 5-16. I watch the Speed runs and see how they do it, but I can't for the life of me, pull that jump off.

Is there some other way to beat that level? I can make it to the other side of the map and make my way back, but can't make the jump on the top right side of the map either.

Gamespot picked this game as one of their 10 nominees for best game of the year. It is on sale now for $10, usually $15.

Ya, that's a good price, I saw it on Steam for only a few bucks this week, too.

My favorite part is finally beating a level and watching my 40 failed attempts.

Fez is out this Friday.

Worthwhile bump!

Loved SMB. Felt like a real accomplishment to finally beat the last (light world) level. Some day maybe I'll get all the bandages and beat all the dark worlds and secret levels...

Same here. It was hard as hell but SO streamlined that I never really felt frustrated because retrying was instant and you were never more than 5-10 seconds lost. I categorically hate endurance tests so I kinda despised the last level because it was everything the rest of the game wasn't.

But I still fought through it and threw my fist in the air when I finally made it.

Definitely getting fez tonight.
