That's ridiculous. Rovi owns Passport. Rovi supplies the data for Passport. Rovi's metadata is described at:

The commercial shows how you can be watching a recording in one room, pause it, and then start watching in another room. Can you watch a recording simultaneously from two locations (at the same place in the recording)? If so, can you pause, FF, etc. the recording and have that happen in the two locations?

If I understand your question correctly, you cannot use the Whole Home boxes to control the output of another cable box.

One way I've seen that will accomplish what you asked is to use one of the unused outputs of the cable box (coax, composite, component, or HDMI) and connect it to the other TV. Although if the second TV is very far away this isn't very practical.

Though not at the exact same place, you can watch the same recording from two different client boxes in different rooms, and control them independently. Either one can stop, rewind, etc. without affecting the other clients watching the same recording.

Have you tried pausing in one room and then resuming in the other?

You can't simply pause and resume in the other. You have to hit record. The only shows you can control from the other rooms are those on the recorded list. If I am in the middle of a show, and do not want to capture the buffer when I hit record, I simply change channels for a bit and back again. That way when I hit record it starts right then because the buffer is empty. Then I can pick right up in the bedroom....

So we have recorded the nightly news and are watching it later on in the living room. Occasionally one of us has to go into the kitchen to do something. The hope is that you could switch rooms and have the same recording on in both places at the same spot in the recording. It sounds like the only way to do that is to start playback simultaneously and not pause, rewind or FF on either.

The 6-Tuner DVR can't get here fast enough, Sundays are particularly "air traffic controller"-like with 60 Minutes, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Family Guy, Celebrity Apprentice and a few other smaller reality shows all airing within the same few-hour block. Brutal.

Any Cox reps here with any news on release date? I am in the New Orleans area and want to switch from Directv when this is available.

although 2 tuner DVRs are quite limiting, I have found the 4 tuners in my TiVo Premiere Elite to be adequate. Occasionally I have to schedule a show running on a cable channel for a later airing in order not to run out of tuners but I almost never have to record anything on my backup DVR, a 2 tuner TiVo Series3.

Don't even begin looking for the G8 until a couple of weeks (at least) after they push the TRIO Version 2 update. This new TRIO version is necessary for the G8.

This is correct, Cox retail branch manager mentioned yesterday that the TRIO V2 update is scheduled for the end of this month, and that the G8 is scheduled to become available to subscribers "roughly 1-2 weeks later".

I have stopped DVRing GOT because of HBOGo on my Xbox. Combining that with the Smart Glass app is amazing.

Any idea what the update will be, correction of issues or enhanced functions? What is the G8 a new Cisco box?

The 8642 DVR has a 500GB HDD
The 8742 DVR has a 1TB HDD
The 98xx DVR will have a 2TB HDD

TRIO 2 will make TRIO work on the new G8 (98xx) DVR as well as correct "up to 20" bugs in the present TRIO (1.1.18.1). The exact bugs addressed have not been leaked, AFAIK.

I like the Cisco DVR , much faster than the Motorola and with improved image quality.

The only issues so far are 1 freeze of a recorded program and the inability to access the past channel guide beyond the current time.

I used to get the occasional letterbox on the HD movie channels now it's all full screen and appears cropped.

Maybe the update will address these issues.

What new features are expected with Trio 2?

How far back could you go with Passport? 1/2 hour? 1 hour? A non-issue, IMO. After all, the IPG is there to help with FUTURE recordings. And TRIO goes 14 days into the future. Passport was limited to 7.

Sounds like your settings are wrong. My DVR simply passes through whatever aspect ratio it receives.

We have had channel 85, AntennaTV or KGUNDT2, for a couple months now. Why is it that Cox still shows "to be announced" instead of the correct programming?

Who is "we"? Cox's IPGs get their data from either Rovi (for Passport) or Tribune Media Services (Trio.) Cox is out of the loop on this one.

We is the Tucson market. Sorry. The channel shows on the IPG, but no programming info. TitalTV, Excite, TVGuide, Zap2It, etc. all show the programming, so it seems like Cox could, too. After all they have the guide filled in for hundreds of channels... They just need to map the Tribune or data to the right channel number...

Perhaps it is a Rovi issue, but Cox should be on top of this. The Cox TV Listings for Tucson also show Channel 85 programming as "Data Not Available".

I thought the TRIO update was happening at the end of May. With the 6-tuner Cisco DVR to begin rolling out in June. What is the source for late Q3 '13 as the correct timeframe?

I repeat: The programming info is provided to Cox from Rovi or TMS. If TMS leaves the programming data out of what it provides to Cox, it's not Cox's fault.

Looks like someone is confusing IPG data with online data. Apples & oranges. Find (as an example) a Rovi or TMS supplied IPG that has your missing data.

It was pushed back some time ago. Latest is for Trio 2 to be pushed in late June with G8 in mid/late Q3. It depends on how current employee trials go.They have bi-weekly meetings to update folks on this roll-out, according to my "mid-management" source.

That has been part of Trio since 1.1.18.1 was pushed in late 2012.
