Please help me find the best plasma <39.75" wide

I think I've made a big mistake in already buying a LCD for the bedroom. I just can't stand to watch sports on it. My main TV is a rear projection 65"XBR, and I've never had the motion problem on it with sports. This new one is a sony ex400 lcd, which is 60hz. REALLY annoying, just can't deal with it. Not sure if the 500ex would be any better at 120hz, but I think I'd rather just go plasma after reading some post on here. The 400ex is going back. Here's what I do:

Sports 75% use
Bedroom, usually dark when watching
About 8 feet away viewing distance
My cabinet limits me to 39.75" width
I won't be viewing off angle
would like to spend under $900

What do you guys think?

I could be wrong, but the smallest plasma I've seen is 42". I'm not sure they make them smaller than that.

I think you are right, however, I believe there are 42" size plasma's that actually measure less than 39.75" in width. I could be wrong.

Ah, yeah, you did say width and not diagonal.

It's looking like most 42" plasmas have a width of about 40.5". You would have to find one with an ultra thin bezel, and I'm not sure they make them that thin?

I'm far from the expert, so maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

You may be more likely to find a different LCD that performs better with motion than the one you have. Or, it may be a matter of adjusting some settings on yours? Again, someone else will likely have better answers.

It appears that all Panasonic 42 inch sets for 2009 and 2010 are 40.6 inches wide.

Yeah your probably looking at a 42" LG or Samsung, which also means 720p. Only Panasonic makes a 1080p 42" plasma however the bezels are much thicker too. I'd say just get which ever is cheaper among the LG or Samsung 42" 720p plasmas (assuming they both fit in the space).

All of the 42" Samsungs that I've seen are too wide (40.5"). I think his only option may be that LG, though it seems to be a good option.

All of the 42" Panasonic and Samsung Plasmas look to be 40.6" wide.

LG makes one 42" plasma (42PJ350) and it is 38.9” wide according to their website so that appears to be the only plasma that is narrow enough for your space.

Thanks guys, the good thing is I don't have to weigh the pros and cons of different sets since this is the only one that fits!

Is there a way to cut or router out a 1/2" deep recess in the sides of your cabinet to enable a 40.6" TV to fit inside? Some people here have done this with great success on their wall unit or armoire.

I have thought of this, but would have to get my wife out of the house for a while!
