Polk M10 vs Monitor 50II

Hi Guys,

My dad bought a second hand (<-- I'll fill that in when I get home, I forgot what it was lol) amp for me a couple days ago. I tried it out with one of my MAudio AV40 speakers and seems to be working ok.

So here is my debate, I have to get a pair of speakers to go with the amp. I found at Visions these 2 on sale. (top one is a bookshelf, bottom one is a tower, not that I need to tell you guys )

Polk M10 - 229.99 down to 78.00
Polk Monitor 50II - 599.99 down to 248.00

My little fear is that the price drop is quiet abit, "are there... problems with them?", otherwise the price seem very attractive seeing as how the holidays are popping around and I will have to shell out more $ for gifts it might be a good idea to be conservative on spending.

if they are both good, are there alot of difference in terms of sound?

Thanks,

Andy

the Polk "M" series are very low end compared to the Monitor (TSi) series.

Go to newegg.com and sign up for their email specials and watch for sales on the Polk Monitor II series. You can get the Monitor70 Series II cherry veneer speakers TODAY 11/5 for $165 each with this coupon SPEAKER112B and $3 each for shipping ! Excellent price but little or no time to make up your mind

Oop's, just noticed you are slightly north of the border....sorry, that deal is probably not available to you. Still, the Monitors are better than the "M" series.

Hey here is a much better deal from a Canadian retailer on the Monitor 60's series II which are superior to both your selections
$180 per speaker

Monitor 50 Series II here for $150 per speaker

There is nothing to worry about manufactures have initial high MSRP cause people think that means quality and then cut the price down so people think they are getting a good deal. You most certainly are getting a good deal with either speaker set

I have Monitor 40s. They are OK. They sound the same as the Monitor 50s except the 40s are a "bookshelf". Going to the 60 or 70 is another story. (better lows) But, all are good entry lever speakers.
